Last fall we contracted the services of a professional landscape architect as well as a professional landscape installation company to plant in excess of 30 shrubs/bushes only to have three die over the winter. We took the three back to Lichtenfelt and they replaced the three dead bushes per their replacement policy. A very professional and well run company that focuses on customer satisfaction. read more

This place is amazing and while I've known it to exist, this was my first time visiting, and boy do I regret not coming here sooner and often. While they are limited on the amount of house plants they have (extremely limited), they are definitely the stop for shrubs and trees at all levels of maturity and rarities. They even have a nice selection of flowering plants. It is not as large as some nurseries in terms of flowering plants, but the layout is gorgeous. If you need help with your landscape design needs they can pair you up with a landscape architect. Love this place read more

It is now close to October, and as I look over my garden I am able to determine which plants survived and grew best this spring and summer. I purchased plants this year from Country Boys, Greer High School, Walmart, and Lichtenfelt. The plants I purchased from Lichtenfelt are by far the healthiest and most beautiful. I paid the highest prices at Lichtenfelt but I will definitely go back next year and purchase from them again. If you want good quality please shop there and support this local business. really nice and super helpful - I had decided to improve a derelict vegetable garden on the back of my house with flowers and made the mistake of shopping at Lowe's first (where none of the employees seemed to know anything about plant care and none of the plants ended up doing well) - got frustrated ripped all those plants out and decided going forward to only ask for help at Lichtenfelt (& Martin & South Pleasantburg Nurseries) because they had the best reviews, and that really ended up paying off - I would recommend starting at Lichtenfelt if you need any kind of help (and I definitely needed a lot of help which they were happy to provide) - their employees are friendly and very knowledgeable and their selection is extremely healthy, I could've saved myself several hundred dollars and a lot of aggravation by starting at Lichtenfelt - definitely go to Lichtenfelt FIRST to get your project on the right track, they've consistently given me the best advice read more

Update on our Lowe's bush that we purchased to replace the one from Lichtenfelt: The Lowe's bush is going strong after five years. We did have an issue with another plant that we purchased from Lowe's, but they cheerfully replaced it since it was within the one year period. We understand these things happen, and the replacement is growing beautifully. We normally prefer to buy local and take our business to small, local companies, but Lichtenfelt is short on customer care and service, and relatively expensive. read more

We had a really negative experience attempting to shop here. Their website had an item listed as in stock, but knowing this is often wrong at places like this, I called to be sure. I was reassured several times that it is in fact in stock and the site was accurate. I was even given measurements of the item. We drove an hour and 45 min to get there and it wasn't there. The system still showed it in stock, but it had never been in stock at all since before we had called. The staff never actually put eyes on it despite us triple checking and asking that it was definitely there. We asked for free delivery if they could get another since they made this big mistake and we didn't want to spend another day driving there, but were told no. We were told we could drive back and get another if they were even able to get one in. We wasted an entire day driving there and back for nothing. This is totally unacceptable business practice and were given no real resolution to something they messed up on. We were told sorry, but sorry doesn't really get us our entire wasted day back nor gas used to get there. Wish they could have cared more about our wasted time because of their carelessness. read more

Last March while living in SE Asia and planning my move back to the SC, I reached out to Lichtenfelt to help identify a specific evergreen that I wanted to use in my landscaping. Fast forward to last (rainy) Thursday, my landscaper took to the nurses he uses to start selecting plants, and what do you know it was Lichtenfelt. Terrible plant warranty policy!!! I do not recommend this nursery. We purchased five gardenias October 2020 and were told they would be guaranteed if they didn't live. One of the five is not making it so my wife returned two days ago to purchase a replacement. They told her if she would return the dying plant they would issue a credit toward the purchase of the replacement plant that she bought two days ago. Today I dug up the dying plant and returned with my wife to receive the credit. They refused to credit the purchase made two days ago and only offered a gift card. They should have warned her two days ago to wait until today when she returned the plant in order to receive proper credit and apply the gift card to the replacement. Now we have a $15 gift card to cover the cost of a $31 replacement plant. The $15 gift card could not be used toward the purchase of the replacement but only for the next purchase Which I will never make. Both of the women acted like they had no idea how to process a credit or the gift card toward the two-day old purchase. They have to be smarter than that to run the nursery. I will never return to this nursery to purchase anything again. I do not recommend and will spread the news with my neighbors and friends. It is my opinion they are struggling or they would be more concerned about the customers' needs. I can buy plants at multiple locations with a full warranty instead of a 50% warranty and the credit would be issued immediately instead of a gift card. These people should not expect to ever see us again. Their prices are significantly higher than competitors. The only reason I went there is for the convenient location to my home in Kilgore Plantation. This experience overrides the convenience factor and I will drive across town to buy in the future. They won the battle on this one but they lost the war and a customer. I felt as if they thought double talking me would end in their success in making me happy. It did not work ladies! read more

Very nice people here with a large selection of plants and shrubberies. The prices aren't any cheaper than Home Depot but the selection is far superior. They will help you load your trees or shrubs as well. We bought about 15 shrubs and they were very helpful. Sometimes it's fun just to walk through the yard and the tents to see what they have and to smell the fragrances. I like to support local over chain so I go here for my plants. read more

Can I give zero stars? I wish. Visited today to pick up two bushes for my landscaper. The bushes were $200 each so my wife wanted me to pick specific bushes instead of letting someone else pick them for us. My landscaper said I should tell them I was getting it for his job and I would receive his discount. Once there the "management" at the nursery was very rude about the process. A young male who seemed inexperienced told me that "Lichtenfelts doesn't do business like that" and I couldn't have the discount. This was after his employee had just told me I could have the discount if they could reach my landscaper and verify it was for him. It wasn't so much that I couldn't get the discount (if that's their policy, then fine) but the young man was so rude about it. Basically he was just an a$$hole about it and said they didn't need me or my landscaper's business. I told him he wouldn't ever have either of our business again and he said "Good. We will be fine." What a jerk. He does not deserve a job dealing with the public. He lost my sale ($400) and any future sales to a local landscaping company who has hundreds of clients. All over $20. What an idiot. McDonalds hamburgers has better trained employees. Find a better nursery where the employees care enough and are courteous. Lichtenfelt apparently "doesn't need your business!" I suggest Country Boys or South Pleasantburg. Even Lowe's or Home Depot is better. read more

My update months ago apparently did not go through. We have been to Lichtenfelt a couple of times in the last year and it is a completely different customer experience under the change of ownership. Employees are very nice now! Also, prices posted were the same as those charged. One of our trees did die, but we are very experienced with palms and know that a 75% survival rate is expected based upon variations in water, underground-root-eating-critters, and soil in our yard, so we were not surprised and do not blame the nursery. read more

I love this place. If you like plants it could be a day trip or even a casual "date." They have a gorgeous walking path with a fountain and an area for kids to play if they are bored while you look at some of the nearby plants. They have rows and rows of plants and some of the people can be very helpful with garden questions. read more

Wow! Their "remodel" is beautiful! The shopping experience is so nice with wonderful, unique choices not found at the big box stores. We are fortunate to have such a nice nursery in this area and although their guarantee is shorter than Lowes or Home Depot, they are more than willing to help you select the right plant for the right space and instruct you on how to care for it properly. You can tell when dealing with the crew that have returned, that they love what they do. We were introduced to Lichtenfelt by our neighbors. The quality of plants and trees is top notch. We were unsure of what type of plants to choose for our tree line, as we are new to SC. Courtney greeted us upon arrival, and took time to listen to us and look at our pictures of the tree line and recommend trees and bushes that would be very complimentary and give us some additional screening. As we continued to read up on local plants, I called Courtney to ask her if she would recommend them for the space we talked about and she gave us really good advice. She is extremely knowledgeable and has taken excellent care of us. We have planted the evergreens that fit our zone. The treeline looks so much better! This is my favorite plant nursery in Greenville! The "new" Lichtenfelt Nursery is beautifully laid out with a large inventory of healthy plants to fit any gardeners needs. In existence since 1989, the family sold the nursery ten years ago but bought it back last year. The improvements are substantial. And they sell my favorite soil enhancer - mushroom compost!
