My boyfriend's father performs here periodically so I've been here a few times already. I honestly…read morethink that the St. Pauli Theater would do it's artists a large favor and invest in a better sound system. While it's not horrible by any means, my boyfriend, who is a trained sound engineer, kept complaining.
There are a few petty issues I have with the theater, however. The toilets are located in the performance hall itself - if you'd like to use the toilet during the show, you're ushered off into the neighboring pub. There are poles extending down from the ceiling in the middle of row 6, and if you're stuck behind them, you won't see a blasted thing.
Overall, it's a decent theater, but that's where it ends. It attracts some great names at decent prices, though, so if you're looking to see a performance by some of Hamburg's originals, this looks to be the place to go.
