Best experience I've had at any License Bureau. Staff is friendly and there's a good energy here. Ryan assisted us and was very personable, fun and efficient. They move the line pretty quickly also which is a plus. I'll be back soon to change over my license and registration once I have the proper documentation. Looking forward to it! read more

I was planning to make a large purchase and needed my address updated. Due to covid, staff members offered me other potential options that might meet my needs (updates via web) in effort to decrease unnecessary foot traffic. I was impressed by the professionalism of well-seasoned staff. They hit the mark on every aspect of providing world class service. My visit was incredibly efficient and effective. They actively listened, provided accurate answers, internally demonstrated teamwork and clear communication. For such a fast paced environment, the number of staff members and many folks coming through, the atmosphere the team was maintaining was amazing and the effort deserves recognition. read more

With covid it was faster than I thought . The staff seemed to be irritated that people were actually there but hey I work with people too . We all suck it up smile and make sure they are taken care of right ? read more

Not happy to stand in this awful line on a day off over 45 minutes to get to the person to tell me they can't read my birth certificate. Seeing multiple people behind the counter doing their own thing including packing up an Amazon box to mail out while the line continues to grow. So I'm here over an hour with zero accomplished. I brought my W2, SS card, utility bill and vehicle renewal application but she couldn't read my original birth certificate. Waste of time read more

You know what - it's really hard to believe I'm going to write this - but I actually had a non-horseshit experience at this place a couple of weeks ago. I spoke to two employees both of whom were actually personable and pleasant to deal with. In all my years of dealing with BMV/DMV in multiple states, never have I spoken to two pleasant people total EVER much less on the same day. Although it was a weekday, there were a decent number of people in line (as always) but they actually had more than 1 person working (at least 4 actually) so it moved quickly and I was in and out in less than 15 minutes - this is with the eye test, new license picture and everything. Really not too bad for a BMV branch. Obviously it would be satanic to ever give any BMV 5 stars so I'm not going that far. But I would definitely recommend this location if you're due for the dreaded trip to Ohio BMV. read more

When numerous people in line in front of you give this BMV verbal props for their ability to get people in and out--you know you're in a good one! Lets face it--no one likes going to these places. But, I asked around and heard this was the place to go if you live on the Near West Side to get your license renewed. And, well this old lady is turning the big 29 this year, so I had to get me a new one. Everyone told me they were in and out in around 10 minutes here and that advice didn't fail me. Ten.. MAYBE twelve minutes and I was walking out with a new license, donning probably one of the worst photos of myself, ever. They offered to take another one, which was kind, but it's a license photo--I don't care. There were at least four ladies working the counter, so at any time, four people were being helped. That's how they make this place work like a well-oiled machine. They don't take credit cards, so make sure you bring cash or check. Also--do some research or even give them a call before you stop in. Why? There are certain things they don't do here--like title work, etc. For renewing licenses and plates, you're good to go here. The ladies themselves were kind, but quick and efficient. They might laugh or smile at one or two of your comments, but no more than that--they're trying to get you going so they can help the next person. read more

What should have been the most exciting day of my partners life was ruined by the employees at this BMV. My partner went through months of waiting and working with lawyers to get their name and gender marker changed. We went in to get his new official license only to have the clerk misgender my partner MULTIPLE TIMES! Not only that but they told my partner they would have to register for the draft now if they want to receive their license. My partner informed them that is not the case and according to the law, our attorney, and, the literal selective service system - transgender men are NOT required to register. What they did was literally against the law! Not only that but when returning to the car the staff proceeded to snicker and laugh at the expense of my partner. You truly ruined the day and we have a witness who will be testifying against your gross behavior, we have contacted our attorney, and they will be pressing charges. Maureen Flanagan you are a foul sad woman and you and your whole staff should be ashamed. read more

Listen up all, let's just acknowledge that all BMVs are inherently terrible. Especially if you hate people, lines, or filing paperwork. But if you need to take a visit to the BMV, this isn't the worst option in Cleveland. Listen, I don't have any revolutionary thoughts here, but they got me in and out fairly quickly when I needed to renew my license. Also, the guy who took my photo told me I looked like Margot Robbie and I literally almost cried (bless his soul, he must have vision problems). Like most BMVs, anything you need paperwork wise is already online. So don't be that person who shows up completely clueless and halts up the line. Do your research ahead of time and don't be a jerk, and the staff will be nice to you. It's literally easy as pie. read more

The service was efficient. Make sure you have your license ready and any other documents in hand as you approach the service counter. Don't like that the BMV isn't generating renewal notices any more. I really appreciated the reminder so that I could renew on time and avoid late fees! read more

What a great experience, I recently moved back to Cleveland after many years away. I expected the typical surly attitude that I have experienced in other cities in the past. That was not the case at all they could not have been friendlier and more efficient. Even said welcome to Ohio when I was leaving! read more

They offer email services for $1 per pdf file if you happen to forget the documents needed, which is a great idea! People here are lovely and patient! read more

I have had to walk out of this place on three separate occasions, and will not be trying for a fourth. This final time, I just needed new stickers. I waited at the counter at the 'Express Line', which is for stickers for less than three cars. I had four different women look at me, and then disappear either to the back office, or to do something else. After waiting in this 'express' line for a half hour without be acknowledged, I gave up and left. My first two experiences were no better. The service here is the worst. read more

Weird that this is called the Lakewood License Bureau as it isn't in Lakewood, but is in CLE instead. This place is located in a shopping plaza by Giant Eagle. You will not see it from Warren Road as it's in the rear (in the rear! haha - I have the maturity level of a 10 year old boy) of the shopping plaza. Maybe that's why it is always so gloriously empty. They do NOT do title work here, and you cannot do your driver exam here either. I guess it's not 5 stars because it doesn't offer these services. If you're renewing your license or car tags, etc., this is the place for you. read more

High class well run bureau. I went in this morning for a kayak registration. It took a while so i was able to sit there and listen to the people around me. The people in the license bureau were tripping over people to be accommodating. Three people renewing plates had no e-check paperwork. These people were told where to go where it is free and were given a "skip the line" pass. One disgruntled guy was complaining about the woman "taking his drivers license", only to find it in his pile of paperwork. So take the negative reviews with a grain of salt. I dont know how they could make this place any better, it really was a good experience for me, the three times i was in there this year for boat registrations. read more

Everyone who works here is so nice but Rachael really went over the top today in getting me sorted out -- she saved me money when I didn't think that would be the case and she was super sympathetic about my terrible morning at e-check. read more

Supper quick!! I was in and out in less than half hour. I'm new to ohio and it was still a supper quick thing. Make sure you check online so you have all your paper work in order before you get there. No point in waiting in line if you don't have all your paper work in order. I went around 2 and it was quick and painless. read more

Seems silly to be rating a license bureau, but this one is 5 stars. Today's visit included a short, but fast moving line and very friendly customer service. My experience here 4 years ago was the same, so they are consistent! I'm so used to the license bureau where I grew up, where everyone was consistently rude. I dread going to the license bureau because of them. This place, however, is EXCELLENT!!! read more

This an update review and a second time of frustration. Employees need to know the requirements for renewing DL and not misinform customers. I have checked the requirements myself in the website and I have been doing this for years. Employees should know more than customers not the other way around. Also, it would be nice if they try to be a little nicer. I'm NOT saying all of them are rude, but some of them needs to improve their customers skills. At the end, we are customers paying money for the service and many of us are organ donors. I will never visit this office again. read more
