Tom Howard is utterly incompetent, completely unprofessional and astonishingly unethical. I hired…read morehim to represent me for my divorce and eventual bankruptcy. I did not know when i hired him that he had been suspended from practicing law in RI in 2006. My bad for not doing my homework though he had been recommended to me by a "friend" who was also a lawyer. I can honestly say Howard made a miserable time in my life about 100 times worse. I have filed 2 separate complaints against him with the RI Disciplinary board. Where should i begin? He filed the paperwork in the wrong county, delaying the whole process by a couple of months, as well as making other paperwork errors. He missed or failed to interpret text in the draft marital settlement that would have had severe negative impacts on custody of my child and cost me thousands of dollars in taxes. He barely communicated with me. He was completely intimidated by my husband's attorney and agreed to everything she proposed without countering or consulting me. He never even edited or marked up the marital settlement drafted by my husband's attorney, he just relied on my comments to propose changes. He kept me waiting for 1 1/2 hours at his office for a meeting while he went home to change his clothes and get his motorcycle. He never provided me with any written information about his fees, hourly rate, etc or a contract for his services. I fired him in October 2013 and am still waiting, now end of January 2014, for an itemized invoice for services rendered and a refund of the unused portion of the $3,000 retainer i paid him for divorce and a future bankruptcy - despite emails, texts and a letter from myself and one from my current attorney. Last but not least, he accepted a credit card check from me, from a credit card in my name, to represent me for Chapter 7 bankruptcy (sometime in the next 6-12 months). Can you say UNETHICAL? Hiring him would be a complete waste of your time and money. He SUCKS!

I had went into the office to speak with a staffing agent, we had an interview she got all my details and etc etc. She told me she would reach out and that never happened. So I assume okay she got busy, so I go to check in, now I get another person who assured me they would help me, and keep in contact. They do get paid to find work for us who are seeking work. Yet again another person missing in action. So I ask again what's the problem why do they go weeks without reaching out after they mention jobs they can get you and you don't hear from them. They don't really care to find you a job, and when they send you emails there's like 3 people CC'ed on it, and it always says " REPLY ALL" every single time. I think this is very unprofessional, I don't want to speak to several people constantly because that's how they can't keep up, and you have to repeat yourself and start from scratch. I've brought this up to them before telling them to please remain in contact or stop wasting my time and each time they assure they will stay in contact or contact you on " this day" and it never happens. This has been happening for months. I've never experienced this with any temp agency only this one. Unfortunately, I thought the place was promising but the professionalism is not there. Nice way to advocate for people who really need work.

This company has established a policy requiring an extra level of effort by private lenders (no other title company has previously made this demand of me in 5 years) as a condition of wiring loan proceeds. If a private lender will not satisfy their requirements, they refuse to wire the loan proceeds, but instead send their corporate check, not even a cashier check, which dramatically slows down the availability of proceeds and costs both opportunities to relend those funds and reduces interest income opportunity. I expect that this will cost me an opportunity to make a loan, and which translated into dollars and cents, means hundreds of dollars of losses due to their involvement. By law, I cannot preclude buyers from selecting this title company but I will charge my borrowers additional days of interest whenever Liberty is involved to compensate for the time value of money. Those borrowers can form their opinion of Liberty. read more

I didn't think picking a lawyer actually mattered much when performing a normal closing but I was…read morewrong. I'd use another lawyer if I were you Pros: -Answered then phone when I called -The sale did go through at the end Cons: -Its 2018 and they still made me fill out a word document to sign and scan back. Most people who do this type of thing have gone all digital. -Ambiguous and non-existent in communication. Had to initiate to find out any information about when, where, and what I needed to bring. -Lawyer was condescending and rude during closing. While she was TECHNICALLY hired by the buyer, I did pay her a lawyer fee to handle my selling paper work. I'd appreciate it if the person I hired didn't scoff when I asked questions, act like they were in a marathon and tell me to sign things with out explaining. -Failed to communicate properly with my agent and the utility companies forcing me to pay a $1000 escrow account for water and sewer. They claimed they didn't get info in time even though (a) they said I was up to date the entire time and (b) my agent showed proof that we had sent info on time. Very unprofessionally handled. -Failed to bring the commission check to my agent upon the closing. If she had owned this, that would be one thing. However, she blamed it on her assistants for not assembling the package together properly and went so far as to call her out for not speaking up in the meeting. -This all would've been fine but it took 1.5 months to get the escrow money back and was only delivered to me when I called and asked. Again, the firm blamed it on someone else (the sewer company). However, I literally had just gotten off the phone with them and they informed me it had been closed out for several weeks and they had to prompt the law firm for the paperwork. In other words, they failed to own their own failures again. Best case scenario, they forgot about it and were reminded when I called. Worst case, they were hoping to make an extra $1000. Any of these negatives would be whatever on their own and I understand they have a difficult job. However, when added up together it makes for an unpleasant experience. I won't be using them for any legal needs and would recommend others avoid.

I recently sold my condo and the buyer chose this office to prepare her paperwork for her, so this…read morewas where the closing took place. Our own seller's attorney was unable to be there so the buyer's attorney ended up representing both sides at the closing. This woman (she didn't even tell us her name) was unbelievably rude and rushed us through the entire thing because they scheduled another closing only 30 minutes after the start of ours (not our fault). She was scoffing, sighing, and shaking her head through the entire thing acting like we were inconveniencing her by being there. Not only was she rude, but she literally kicked us out of the room when we were no longer needed- Because she was in such a rush to get us out of there, she failed to give us a copy of the documents we were supposed to get, and didn't even acknowledge that we were supposed to get another check with additional money we were owed. After we we were kicked out and had time to think everything through, we had to call an hour after the closing ended because they missed it and had to explain to the paralegal why this money was owed to us. If we hadn't called they never would have given us that money back. The check finally comes a week and a half later with the incorrect last name on it, so I had a very hard time cashing it due to the dependency. All in all, we were treated so unprofessionally so I wouldn't recommend this office strictly because of the way we were treated as the "other party" at the closing.
