My fiancé and I recently purchased a new boat. I set it up to be insured a day before the seller, and I completed the transaction. I have an email from the agent (Chris) confirming the insurance start date. Nearly two weeks later, I checked my account online, but I did not see the new boat listed, so I called the office. Unbeknownst to me, we were in possession of an uninsured boat. Thank God nothing happened! I then called the office and spoke to Brent. Again, friendly and professional, but he confirmed the insurance had not taken effect. Whaaaat?! Apparently, the reason it had not gone into effect is that I had not paid to start insurance on the new boat. I had no idea. The initial date to be insured has passed. Given that I had an "agent," I would have expected a call or something. Something... to know they were looking out for their long-time client. In the end, no harm was done, but I still can't help but think, "What if?" It's not like I have the time, but I'll have to compare other companies. This was a concerning and frustrating experience that left me feeling unvalued.
