The worst moment came during our final goodbye to my father before cremation. Instead of a private, dignified setting, we were left standing in a hallway while he was positioned in a partially open doorway -- one through which we could see other deceased individuals. No grieving family should have to experience that. That same lack of care and preparation continued into his memorial service, adding unnecessary stress to an already painful day. Families trust funeral homes to handle their loved ones with dignity during unimaginably hard times. That trust was broken here. I would not recommend this funeral home.

Kind, gentle, professional, and understanding, is Ross-Clayton Funeral Home. Beautiful property, clear signage instructing mourners where to go, as well as the families wishes in terms of viewing the decedent. I love the private rooms where family and friends are able to view their departed loved ones away from other families, so they can do same. If you are in the Montgomery area and in of services, I highly recommend Ross-Clayton, whose consistency in service I have personally experienced for almost 15 years. Thank you, Ross-Clayton staff, for being good to our family. God bless. -Candace Ash

I was greeted by a warm and caring voice that immediately put me at ease by letting me know that my loved one was in his care now. He took it from there. After a short meeting, everything was set up. They met every expectation and more. I highly recommend this locally owned business. I contacted Ridouts in Prattville, but was greeted with a polar opposite salesman. He was quick to start sending me things to purchase, but he never asked what my plans were, what my budget was, or even how could he help me. That was a very impersonal and insulting interaction that quickly resulted in a blocked number. If you want to deal with a salesman, I highly recommend going somewhere other than Brookside. If you want to be put at ease by a caring staff (all of them), then Brookside is who you should call. Thank you Brookside, for everything. Our interaction with everyone there allowed us to focus on grieving for our loved one. I'll be by soon to set up my arrangements.

When me and my dad were checking out the unmarked graves from the civil war, my dad was up ahead taking pictures of them and I was standing there rather far away from him watching the sun set, and out of no where something poked me in the back, I slowly turned around and saw nothing there, it actually didn't scare me, I just calmly turned back around, I didn't mention it to my dad until we when't back to Millbrook. One thing I didn't enjoy was going to the more recent part.. It was absolutely infested with Kudzu bugs that attacked me and bit me, There were thousands upon thousands of them, It was during the spring/summer so maybe its a better idea to go to the more recent part in the winter too, have fun!

The staff are kind and knowledgeable, the facility is beautiful, the services provided were exemplary. In particular, Leo Gross was an immense comfort to have on hand, and he did an amazing job regarding my father's appearance. Everything was handled in a way that made the tasks easier on us as we struggled through the first few days and weeks of this exhausting and painful grieving process, and every aspect would've made my dad proud, I believe. Then last September when my grandfather passed away after a longtime illness, Casey was the funeral director who provided my family with care. She was so loving and comforted anyone she could. At that time, we were both pregnant, due about a month apart. I didn't deal with the planning process in these funerals, but in January when my infant son passed away, I knew immediately which funeral home to go to for services. They went above and beyond to make sure my little boy was taken care of and gave us the opportunity to get many momentos. Even though we did not use their facilities for a visitation or funeral, we still got the same level of service that my grandmother received when she planned my uncle's and grandfather's funerals. We were one of the first clients of Casey after she came back from maternity leave and she was so compassionate and caring checking to see if there was anything else she could help us with and making sure my husband, daughter and myself were doing as best as we could given the situation. They will always be our go to funeral home for our family in the future for the love and support we got from the entire staff at Alabama Heritage. Thank you, Casey & Paul, for all that y'all have done and continue to do. I would recommend them to anyone. (Sorry for the novel!)
