This review is long overdue but I came in here a few months ago. The gentlemen in security is…read moreamazing! This review is not for the building or security but for the records office where you can get your birth certificate. I went in and a lovely lady assisted me. She was polite and friendly, advised me of the process and so I completed it. After I took everything back up to her, she advised me it would be a quick wait and to have a seat. At the time, I was on disability due to a previous TORN MCL injury, so I could not stand long. Mind you, I even had a minor limp. I was told I could have a seat by the nice representative processing my request. As soon as a I sat down, some guy who was not even ASSISTING me that was behind the glass, told me I needed to stand up and wait for my turn? Despite me already being assisted but everyone else was sitting? Just because one had a child and another was elderly.... why couldn't I sit down? I felt this rep needs a refresher in disability rights and to learn how not to discriminate. Not ALL disabilities can be seen by the naked eye. I am not the type to argue especially in a government/city building so I stood up and when the lady noticed this, she quickly tried to process my request to get me in and out. After a few minutes, I sat back down because of the pain I was feeling in my knee. The man, however, needs an attitude check and a reminder by HR to leave your problems at the door when clocking in to work. If the process is to not sit (which doesn't make sense.... not everyone can stand for long periods to fill out forms oR at the computer) then you should be mindful of that. Have some signs up maybe if that's the policy !

"Pretty Tree, Pretty Monument, Pretty Utility Payment Drop off box"…read more Calling City Hall a historical landmark might be a wee bit of an exaggeration. If there is a lot of history around this building, it escapes me. City Hall is a moderately-sized, old rectangular building. The day that I visited, it was locked, but I watched people drop off their utility payments in a box on the front door. That was perhaps not the highlight of my day. At this location, there are cool, relaxing views. After you finish watching people drop off their utility payments, you can read the whale monument, or have a seat and watch the fisherman. This is also a pleasant place to go for a stroll along the water. At City Hall itself, you can check it out in about 2 minutes. There are dilapidated bathrooms around the left side near the back. You can also watch dogs jump into the water near the boat launching ramp. I only saw dogs jumping into the water. I did not see any utility customers jumping into the water after dropping off their payment-- but if they jumped really fast, I might have missed them. Pleasant area for a quick visit, but don't expect a diamond attraction here.

People are nice and all businesses were welcome! More than 25+ wine tasting rooms on Main Street, this town is perfect for a weekend get away! "Murphys is located in the central Sierra Nevada foothills between Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National Park, in Calaveras County, California. Rich in goldrush history, Murphys today is a vibrant, thriving community of approximately 2,000 residents, alive with art galleries and live theater, eclectic shops, cute restaurants, charming hotels and B&B's, and a multitude of outstanding outdoor recreational opportunities all just a short drive away. Often called the "Queen of the Sierra," Murphys has retained the charm of yesteryear, even as it has grown and developed into a modern community with all the amenities expected by today's visitors. Many original goldrush-era buildings are still in use today, including the Murphys Historic Hotel and Lodge, a registered State Historic Landmark which once hosted such luminaries as General Ulysses S. Grant, Mark Twain, Horatio Alger, and Charles Bolton, aka notorious outlaw "Black Bart." Towering, stately elm trees line Main St., providing a canopy of green that adds to the historic charm and ambience of the streetscape.Daniel and John Murphy settled the area in 1848, at the start of the great California gold rush. Shrewd traders and smart businessmen both, the brothers made their fortune supplying the legions of gold miners flocking to the area, and legend has it that they were millionaires by the time they turned 25. More about the history of Murphys. Located at approximately the 2,000-foot elevation level, Murphys is ideally situated above the central valley fog, yet generally below the snowline. Year-round weather is pleasant and mild, with temperatures ranging from the mid-30's to 60's during the winter months, and 70's to 90's during the summer." VisitMurphys.com for more details.
