I LOVE East of Eden. I have had a membership here for the last four months and attend four times a…read moreweek. I'm a strong level 2 and there are certainly classes here that challenge me. I have taken most of the classes here so I'll give you the low-down. Naomi's class, which happens mid-day most weekdays, is AMAZING. Naomi pushes us quite hard, but each class is different and interesting. Naomi is one of the owners of East of Eden and is the reason why I became a member here. I do not get to make it to her class as often as I would like, but her style hooked me to yoga. Another amazing teacher is Eryck, which happens on Thursday evening. Eryck's class is also hard, interesting, and a lot of fun. Eryck is very insightful about yoga so his classes combine knowledge about yoga with a wide range of classes. While this class is tough, he offers plenty of options so I have brought friends here that are level one and they have also enjoyed his class. This class always makes me feel really happy and I often go home in a great mood, which is annoying for my husband as by the time I'm home it's 9 pm. My only problem is that Eryck doesnt teach often enough! James is another favorite teacher of mine. James teaches on Thursday AM (bright and early) and Saturday AM. James' class is a Hatha class and while I am normally more into the flow vinyasa his class is awesome. Before attending James' class, I always assumed that Hatha was basically just lazy yoga. However, James has taught me that this assumption is wrong. Hatha is the original form of yoga and while being gentler than vinyasa still allows for a deep strong practice. After attending James class, I often feel more settled and grounded. His class has definitely made my practice stronger. Catherine's class is another class that I really love. Her class is held on Saturday morning (after James') and is normally packed. She has a great style and I normally combine James' class with Catherine's as they balance each other very well. Catherine definitely needs to teach more classes as her class is so full that if you don't book ahead you get waitlisted. I'm still not done yet... Hermione is another amazing teacher. Her class is held on Sunday morning. Hermoine has a very unique style and focuses on harnessing and channeling energy. Not only are her classes focused on energy, but they are also super challenging. I admittedly do not make it to Hermoine's class as often as I would like! While this all may sound amazing, there are some gaps in the schedule that I really do not like. As a level two, there isnt a yoga class on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday PM that I like. The classes that are held at this time are a bit too easy for me. Since I work full time, this is a bit of a bummer as I need as many evening/weekend classes as possible. I really wish that either one of my favorite teachers or a new amazing teacher would take up these spots as I would certainly go more often. That said I am overall very happy with East of Eden. Since its a small studio, I have come to know everyone really well and feel welcome there. Walthamstow was seriously lacking in yoga studios before East of Eden and I am so happy that they have come as they are a great addition to the community. The studio has a great community feel that I am very proud to be part of! I am a massive supporter and all of my friends have been dragged here for a yoga class! P.S They do an intro offer of unlimited classes for 10 days for 20GBP!

I am an have been taking classes in many yoga centers in NYC and London and this is one of my favorite places. I have only had great teachers each time I go. Having searched around, i found a few gyms and fitness centres that offered classes but was lucky enough to stumble across Yoga On The Lane. I live in East London so the location is perfect. Tucked behind the hustle and bustle of Dalston's busy Kingsland Road, Yoga On The Lane provides the tranquil and peaceful setting you would expect from a yoga centre - as soon as i walked in i felt relaxed. I'm a beginner, so i went to their Level One class which takes you through meditation to a full body workout - an hour of yoga is sweaty stuff. It's first come first serve, so get there early! Classes are £10 (expensive for me but i save to go because it's worth it) and they offer weekend yoga retreats, acupuncture, yoga holidays etc. My class was very busy but don't let that put you off because my instructor (Joanne) was so amazing and made the time to help each member of the class as if it were one-to-one. I couldn't recommend this yoga centre more, its exactly what i've been looking for and is suited to all levels of experience. I'm off to their midday yoga class today, see you there!
