She was very personable and thorough. I was there due to shortness of breath and I was checked out thoroughly. Mary Katherine had the Nurse do an EKG and blood work was done. A couple of prescriptions were called in to my Pharmacy and that was it. I highly recommend Mary Katherine and would be happy to see her again if need be.

If you want a doctor who is not just knowledgable & caring, but also has a fabulous dry wit sense of humor, then Dr. Christopher Asuncion is your man. His "one liners" make going to the doctor a much more relaxed experience. My using Dr. A as a Primary Physician began years ago when my internist retired. A number of people at work went to a large, well established group in the Beach General corridor. So that's the practice I chose. Gradually everyone at work gravitated to Dr. A, a member of that practice at the time. When he left to found Mid-Atlantic Family Medicine, we all followed him. Dr. Asuncion isn't the type of Doctor you feel is rushing you out of the exam room. He will listen to your ailments & symptoms as long as you want to talk. And he remembers not just your medical conditions but also your family, interests & activities. Whenever I have one of my semi-regular sinus infections he will make sure that his staff works me into his always full schedule. And he will do his best to knock it out in the shortest time possible, especially if I have an important upcoming activity planned. It's quite humorous when he walks in the room & the first thing he says is "Got it again?" His decisions regarding whether you should be referred to a specialist for a newly diagnosed condition are prompt & correct. I've always been very happy with his specialist choices. An on-site lab technician eliminates the hassle of having to go to a hospital for blood work. Electronic transmission of prescriptions eliminates the need to carry a script to the pharmacy & make a return trip to pick it up, Access to the doctor is extremely easy. He is available by email, either responding by email or having his nurse or the office staff call. All are responsive & pleasant. The only down side to a one man family medicine practice is that he does need vacations & time off. His PA handles the chores in his absence. But of course I prefer Dr. A. The office is located in the Bon Secours Medical Building off South Plaza Trail, just north of Princess Anne Road. Both the building and the office convey the feelings of new, nicely decorated, clean & well lit. The spacious glass walls offer one an outside view that makes waiting in an exam room much more acceptable that four closed in walls. And the exam rooms are a nice size, rather than claustrophobic. Parking is plentiful and laid out so that it's always an extremely short walk to the entrance. Regular parking spaces are just as convenient as the handicapped slots. There is a covered drive-thru at the entrance, so one can drive an elderly or infirm patient directly to the door. Wheel chairs are available in the building lobby for their further use. Walk into the door at Mid-Atlantic Family Medicine and you are greeted pleasantly by your name. (Does this mean I go to the doctor too often?) It's a much more pleasant experience than the check-in ogre's at some medical practices who give one the feeling that you are interfering with their day. There must be a check-in ogre school, since so many have the same technique. Now I'm thinking of the one liner Dr. A would come up with if he read this review. I'm pretty certain I know exactly what it would be. So I'll just close on a serious note. Thank you for taking care of us Dr. A. You are very much appreciated.

I've gone to Dr. Miranda for years and of all the doctors I've seen, he's had the best bedside…read moremanner. This place definitely has a 70's feel, with the walls being wooden panels and fluorescent lighting. However that does not deter from the excellent care I always receive here. I came in today to get my physical done for my graduate school requirements. It was not busy and I was in and out in about 30 minutes max. I've also recently switched insurances from Tricare to blue cross blue shield (he takes both!). I am always impressed with the attention to detail Dr. Miranda is and how I don't feel rushed like I do with other doctors. Overall, he's been my family's main family doctor in the VA beach area for a reason!

This location houses 3 of the most experienced and knowledgeable primary care physicians I've ever…read moreknown. The front staff is lacking, with the exception of one, Laina, who is always friendly, smiling, and the most helpful receptionist there. It makes a difference when you have 2-3 ladies at a window, and only one looks up and acknowledges your presence. The lab tech Caley is very easy going and quick with her lab draw. And the nursing staff is friendly as well. Let's not forget the wonderful Xray techs, Jenny & Neelie!

Dr. Winters and staff represent horrid customer service. I would have been a new client, however…read morethe week before my appointment I had a major surgery. Because of the surgery I was on hydrocodone. I called the staff to let them know that I was STILL ON hydrocodone (because he makes you get blood work done on your first visit). HIS STAFF suggested that I reschedule because of the narcotics in my system. I rescheduled for the following week. I'm in the process of moving so with oversight I missed my appointment. I called today to see when the appointment was and the person that answered the phone said it was last week. Cool. She places me on hold just to come back with a huge attitude. "Dr. Winters will not see you. You've no-showed twice so no nobody I'm our office will see you." I advised her the first missed appointment wasn't a no-show. I couldn't even get it out of my mouth that THEY told me to reschedule before she interrupted me, repeated herself and then hung up on me. That was extremely rude.

I recently had an appointment for my Epidural Injection here and it couldn't have been a better…read moreexperience. Right across the street from Mt Trashmore, the building had a lovely curb appeal to it and refreshing to see the newness of it all. Upon entering, I didn't have to deal with the stairs or anything like that which was good when you have back pain. It was very clean inside, quiet, and calming which made my nerves ease quite a bit right away. The receptionist were prompt and very easy to work with especially since I had my info put in prior to the appointment. That alone was a great experience as I apparently didn't fill out the pre-registered form correctly the week before however, I received a call and the receptionist walked me through it all filling it out for me which was lovely! It was less than ten minutes upon arrival until I went back with the assistants to which went over my info and made sure it was all matching in case I missed anything. After she left, minutes later Dr. Gauthier enter with his assistant to go over the info one last time. He was very welcoming and took his time making sure all the info was correct and if I had forgotten something and wanted to double check everything. I did remember I had a nerve test to which he then sent the assistant out to get information from that facility. In this time, he performed his testing/evaluation of my issues and then talked about exactly what was going on in his findings and how the procedure was going to work. He assured me that this process would be a bit different and most likely much better than the "caudal injection" to which was excruciating for me in the past. I had such a calm and comforting feeling with the process and really appreciated it. He told me what to take off and would return to take me back for the quick procedure. The assistant came back and escorted me to the room and again, very clean, modern and comforting. The assistant had small talk with me waiting on the Dr to which he quickly returned and picked up right with the assistant. We were laughing and carrying on all while taking pauses and being professional at the same time dialing in the machines. The procedure lasted about 10-15 minutes tops and for me personally, was so much better than any of the other shots or testings I had done. It was closer to a level 3 in pain vs others that reached 9.5! I told him I would happily do another one if it came down to that as that experience overall was very pleasant. I mean its not all comfortable but that is what I did appreciate about them both making it as light and relaxing as possible while filling you in the entire time of what was about to happen, happening and what to do after. I definitely recommend this place if an Epidural Injection is ordered by your Doctor and really appreciate Dr. Gauthier and crew for a lovely experience!
