Meeting with Bethany in person immediately showed how much care and attention to detail she brings to her craft. She's a very astute listener, and is able to understand and apply your vision to the process. She even found reference material based on our conversation, which further proved that she understood exactly what I wanted. Working with Bethany was a breeze. My wedding was a little off the grid, but she had no problem making the trip and arriving early enough to take in the layout of the venue and scope out the best spots for photos. She really put me and my husband at ease during the process and made it really fun to have our photos taken. She was easily able to put other guests at ease, who otherwise don't enjoy having their photos taken. The result was incredible! She captured all the moments during the ceremony that we wanted to remember, but simply couldn't because of the typical wedding jitters and craziness of the day. Viv was immediately our first choice because she has an incredible portfolio of photographing in redwoods and nature which is sometimes very difficult to photograph with the different lighting. We are a bit awkward but from the get go, she was easy to talk to and was also organized. Our wedding was on the casual side so we did not have a planner but Viv was on top of everything and even though we had a day of coordinator, Viv was the one coordinating when it was her time and took lead which was much needed to wrangle everyone. The wedding was a tiny bit chaotic, running behind and rather short but Viv did a fantastic job capturing candid moments and making sure to pull us away for portrait photos away from everyone else before the wedding ended. She was professional and there wasn't a moment where I thought she was distracted. Most of the time you have to explain all the…read moredreary, drudgery associated with finances and family members and set up expectations for who, what, where and how...and then somewhere along the way the good, funny and level headed person that you used to be disappears. - I was nearing that stage when my new hubbie and I made the agreement to see Ms. Branda and interview her as the potential photographer for our nuptuals. It was a cold and kinda nasty day out, and we arrived at her studio/apartment. She welcomed us in, and offered us tea and snacks. It was really nice because her approach was to treat us rather than the cash cows that we could have been, and instead treat us like people. It was refreshing. It was delightful. And oddly enough my reaction to it was to be a bit nervous. I didn't know what to talk about. I asked her what she needed to know. (more sheepishly than I've ever known myself to be.) She said to start with "our story." So we sat and we talked, and we got to know one another. It was really good. At the end of about an hour - we came to a natural pause in the conversation, and she segued very nicely into the what, where, and how. We left that afternoon agreeing that Ally would be the one to take our photos. As for the day... I couldn't tell you much - I just remember there being lots of people, and lots of jostling, and far too much that suddenly needed attention. But the up-side of all of this... Allison was there with her camera and not intrusive to the day at all. A few weeks later she contacted us and, although a majority of the business that we've conducted with her has been via e-mail she's been very up front. Coordinating the surprise proposal while not making my partner suspicious and at the same time being sure everyone was in the right place at the right time without being able to directly communicate in the moment takes some planning. Anna scheduled a zoom call a week before the proposal and walked me through all of the details including clear instructions (with google street view screenshots and coordinates) and tips on how to position myself and my partner to get the best lighting. We absolutely love our photos. Anna really captured the emotions of the moment and also the beauty of the scenery. She really has an eye for capturing beautifully artistic shots and we are impressed by the quality of the photos.
