My lab is off the rails with her energy level and they do an excellent job matching her with other dogs in her play group (energy level) - they both come home happy every time- and cannot wait to go back and play with their daycare buddies (both 4 legged and 2 legged). The staff is extremely attentive to all of the dogs needs from what I have experienced over the past year- that is how long I have been bringing them for daycare (2 times a week), overnight, some training and grooming. They do sometimes close the park for events like forth of July, so be aware that it's a park that can be closed. Its down town, but it does not feel that way its feels like you're lost in the great nature.

The play area looks fairly new encompassing a large area with the rubber ground. Reading and seeing older pics here on Yelp there was gravel before in playground so this is massive upgrade. There is an outdoor covered bench spot right beside playground good for children parties. Finally there is the water shooting fountain pipes?? I don't know what these are called but they shoot water randomly that children jump through. It is great place to bring children and offers many picture locations.

Lots of foot traffic and people visiting my table. It is a very well maintained public park, and they have paved walking paths. There is also a hard standing building in the park that has both a male and female restrooms. Bathroom where maintained and clean. This park also has plenty of trees which allows you to excercise under the shade of the trees. Lots of vendors selling a large variety of items and food. Check the website for the entertainment line up. Security and the ambulance where in site for our safety, very much appreciated. This will be a yearly event for me to attend.

They have a little visitor center when you can buy a bunch of souvenirs, snacks, and can get a stamp in your SC state parks passport. If this review was solely on the trails and beauty, it would be a 5/5 but unfortunately the campsite brings it down a bit. The campsite is on the larger side, and has 3 bathhouses to accommodate the area (close to you). You are given the basics like a picnic table & fire ring. Sites 1-29 have 20/30/50 amps, and 36-84 have 20/30 amp electric hookups. Sites 1-9 are full service (also have sewer). These sites do not give you a lot of privacy, and it seems like they built as many sites as they could in a confined area instead of spreading the sites out a bit to give the camper a bit more privacy. The bathhouses are clean, but are very dated and are in desperate need of a renovation. If you are not a camper, you will be charged an entrance fee of $6 if you are an adult, $3.75 for seniors (65+), or $3.50 for children (6-15). Overall, a 5/5 for the beauty of the park and amenities outside of the campsite, but 2/5 for the campsite itself.

Driving up to this park takes one through downtown Orangeburg, which was virtually abandoned when I…read morepassed through. The park was no less eerie. A parking lot overlooked the green space, which had a road running through the center of it before one gets to the water. A boardwalk yielded some decent riverside nature, but also a broken water wheel. The parking lot had a handful of people who were simply sitting in their cars for reasons I could not discern. I found the design of the park strange, as a memorial space was immediately facing the parking lot and did not seem like a peaceful place of remembrance. The rose gardens were well manicured, and it seemed like whatever money the city has they put into maintaining them, but signs warned to stay away due to pesticides. There were a number of facilities as far as bathrooms and gathering places, and perhaps the park is more lively at some times, but I would not go out of my way to visit the place on its own merits.
