The bilingual curriculum (French + American) is outstanding, and even though we don't speak French at home, we've watched her become such a confident and curious learner. As a parent, I've been impressed with the Singapore math approach they use; it's helping her develop a strong understanding of math, not just memorization. My daughter also enjoys the after-school clubs, especially Cooking Club and Soccer - they've become highlights of her week. The teachers are incredibly talented and experienced. With the small class sizes, our daughter gets the kind of individualized attention that lets her feel seen and supported. This is the only school I've encountered where all the teachers and students know each other's names. The campus itself is spacious, bright, and feels very safe. There is an enclosed on-site playground for the younger grades. We are truly happy we chose this school and feel grateful for the nurturing environment our daughter gets to learn in every day.

Renowned for its rigorous academics, competitive athletics, and diverse student body. Founded in 1933 by the Franciscan Brothers, Saint Anthony's has a long-standing tradition of nurturing students from across Long Island, drawing families who value both educational quality and moral formation. I had the pleasure of witnessing firsthand, for the second time, how this school dedicates significant attention to our children's education, well-being, and discipline. These are elements that are crucial for balancing the growth of young children. It is truly an impressive institution that prioritizes holistic development. The principal, Brother David, speaks very well and clearly demonstrates intelligence, passion, and worldly wisdom. His leadership reflects the school's commitment to fostering a strong sense of community, faith, and academic achievement. Saint Anthony's High School highlights the importance of education, athletics, and spiritual growth, welcoming students regardless of their specific faith background, whether Catholic or other religions. It stands as a remarkable example of a school that values both academic and moral development, preparing students to succeed in all aspects of life.

There's a memorial statue of Jesus Christ outside of St. Anthony's that I pass by almost every day…read more And nearly every time I see it, it's covered in dirt and left unclean, as if it were just another object instead of a symbol of our Savior. It's heartbreaking to witness, especially from a Catholic school that is supposed to be built on honoring Christ in every way. This isn't just about a statue, it's about reverence. That memorial is meant to reflect the love, sacrifice, and presence of Jesus, yet it's consistently neglected. For a school that carries His name, this lack of care sends a message that directly contradicts the values it claims to teach. When something so symbolic is left in that state, and when attempts to bring attention to it are met with cold and dismissive attitudes, it raises a serious concern: Are we really honoring Him the way we should? A Catholic school should be a living reflection of Christ, in its words, its actions, and even in the way it tends to something as sacred as His image. This is not written out of criticism, but out of a deep hope that someone in leadership will take this seriously. Because Jesus deserves more than just a place on the property, He deserves to be honored in how that space is cared for, every day.

The rest of this review is kind of a response to the two old reviews on here about the school... 1.) I've found the school to be a wonderful community. It is EXTREMELY diverse which I'm so thankful for. Not sure what the other parent imagined diversity looks like. 2.) Yes the building is old, but the classrooms are brightly painted and have high ceilings with large windows. Actually, I've toured both a number of public and private schools in UWS and would say it's exactly on par, maybe more natural light than others. 3.) My daughters have had exceptional teachers at this school and made long-lasting friendships with students and their families. 4.) Price point is a huge positive factor. 5.) Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. Yes, most of the office staff are fluent in both Spanish and English (huge selling point in NYC). Anytime I've ever needed help from them, they speak with me immediately. 4 stars instead of 5 because flow of information coming home to parents could improve. Still on par with my older daughters public school flow of information.

The education coupled with the Christian tradition and the array of activities gave my children a well-rounded education. The teachers are dedicated to their students. Many also coach teams or moderate clubs after school. They provide "extra help" to students who require it. They don't leave when the bell rings. Graduates have gone on to top notch schools as well as middle tier schools and also RCC, just as students who have graduated from the New Jersey Catholic schools or the NY public schools. Graduates have received ample scholarships for academic performance and have been awarded significant financial aid awards too. Albertus tuition is significantly less than their New Jersey Catholic school counterparts. When deciding on a high school for your child, the best approach is to contact each school under consideration, ask for their college data, read their brochures, check out the websites, talk with teachers, current parents, students, and graduates. Also arrange for your child to visit for a day to get a feel for the atmosphere. Attend a sports contest, concert, play, or art show. These are usually advertised. If you and your child are lucky enough to make the "right" decision (best school for your child and it may not necessarily be Albertus Magnus), you will know when he or she says as my student did, "I love Albertus!"

I wouldn't waste your time or hard earned money on Albertus Magnus. Most of the educators there are simply unable to find a "real" job in a public school, and the rest are just there temporarily to gain experience so that they can move on. There no longer exists the teachers that are there for the students and plan on sticking around to guide them through their formidable years and assist in the transition to college. The guidance department is a complete sham with hardly any experience, knowledge or contacts. My advice, either save your money or spend it on a REAL school.

Holy Trinity School, on Maple Avenue, has experienced about a 24 percent decline in students since 2000 and currently has an enrollment of 183, said Jim Goodness, a spokesman for the archdiocese. Church officials plan to merge Holy Trinity with St. Francis School, a parish school on South Main Street that also has suffered enrollment loss and is down to about 118 students. The archdiocese decided that St. Francis School would be the one to stay open because it has received extensive renovations in recent years. The school is under a flight path for Teterboro Airport and received government grants for soundproofing, Goodness said. "To try and level off the costs of providing education and stabilizing enrollment, which has fallen at both schools, the natural solution is that the parishes should combine their schools into one," Goodness said, adding that such issues as transportation and staffing were still being worked out. Holy Trinity is the sixth parish school that the archdiocese plans to close this year and the only one in Bergen County. The other schools are in Hudson, Essex and Union counties. Goodness said that schools with declining enrollments typically turn to the parish for financial assistance. But with parishes also struggling with changing demographics and increased costs, their ability to support schools is limited. "It is reaching the point in some parishes where they cannot support the school in the way they might have in the past," Goodness said. The pastor at Holy Trinity said the parish was contributing about $150,000 to $200,000 to the school, but the enrollment was still falling. The tuition is about $3,200 a year for parish families. **************************** How could I *not* give my Elementary school five stars? (Especially if it's Religious!) No, seriously. All kidding aside, this was a Catholic K-8 school, complete with boys and girls in plaid uniforms, nuns in habits, and daily assembly outside in the parking lot (YES, even in the SNOW) to 'line up' and take attendance. Though I was never baptised and never raised Catholic, I thought this was a great place. The teachers and sisters at this place ran a TIGHT ship. You wouldn't ever THINK of smack talking, much less bring stuff to school that didn't belong. The fear of the cruxifix at the front of each classroom was enough to set you straight, regardless of your religion. Looking back, for a faculty of ALL women, these ladies knew what they were doing- they did NOT take crap from us kids! AND, I even learned a few things, science and math, and they even had art and music class. Gym in those uniforms was pretty uncomfortable, though I was only there from 3rd through 5th grade ... and THEN I went to public school in Southern California! Oh, the horror!
