Pavão Azul is famously known for their bolinho de bacalhau. It was perfectly crispy fried on the outside and the inside was filled with bacalhau which is otherwise known as cod. Its good on its own, but also very tasty with squeezed lime juice or with the use of the pimenta no azeite which is a chili pepper olive oil that I fell in love with during my entire stay in Brazil and had to have it on everything if it was available where I went. I also tried this drink we had a bottle of to share with the group - I believe it was called coquito which came in an old Smirnoff bottle. It is a milk cream drink - vodka, coconut milk, and condensed milk. I did not think I was going to like it as I don't care for milky or creamy things, but I do like trying new things and I really wanted to embrace everything while I was traveling. I ended up liking it, haha. It was not bad and I would try it again if I had the chance. This place was packed and very busy! We were there on a Thursday night. Being that our tour guide knew the staff, he was able to score a couple tables for our group. I loved the energy and vibe that was there that night - I did not want to leave it was so fun! Highly recommend coming here one night! Will be back for sure :D

Service was okay, it took forever to flag down a waiter to get a menu and they messed up our initial order. The bolinhos de bacalhau was a tad salty for my liking. I've come to notice in Brazil a lot of the food was salty but still good. The feijoada one was unique but didn't taste the best. I would come back here for sure.

We wanted to go on a food adventure, so we used Trip Advisor to find us a good restaurant in the Rio area. We found Zot and then proceeded to order about seven different dishes to share between four people. (Hey, we wanted to try as much as we can; that's what a true food adventure is!) Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The chef here really knows how to cook meat, whether it's beef, duck, chicken, or fish. You're guaranteed to have a tender melt-in-your-mouth bite every time. And speaking of the chef, he is amazing and super friendly and will make the effort to come out and greet his diners. (He speaks pretty good English, too -- bonus!) Their menu changes every so often, so you may not have the same food if you end up returning. The lesson here is that, no matter what you order, you can't really go wrong. My favorites of the night, though, were the ceviche, tapioca cubes, duck, and Argentinian dessert.

Its a small little place that people go mainly for wine and they do have a variety both in choices as well as price range. Food wise, I love their ceviche and since its appetiser size, this has been somewhat of a standard order. However, its inconsistent. The first time I had it, it was absolute fabulous! The second time, not so much. Ordered it again after that and it was OK... I need to manage my expectations :p Had their food/sampler platters before but there were nothing to shout about. Their gnocchi was OK. Their bolinho with duck was recommended but I did not find it interesting at all. No offence, but I do not think people here do duck very well (except for that one that I had in Ipanema... forgot the name of the restaurant, MUST go back!). Like I said, I have not been back there in a while, but from my previous visits, I do remember that I love their desserts! :-) ice cream/ chocolate cake with pepper :) There were not that many dessert items on their menu, but I remember loving them all... Oh, and there was once that I went and there was a lady signing back up by keyboards :) Wonder if they still do that.....

We discovered it was only a short 8 minute walk from our apartment rental (score!) Walk in and the top floor was quite small. A few people were dancing but mainly crowding the bar. (They were giving free drinks until midnight) After midnight, everyone was liquored up and ready to go! I danced with people from Norway, England, France, Israel and of course Brasil. I was surprised at how many people knew the words to some of the songs because some of the hip hop wasn't mainstream that the DJ was spinning. I was delightfully surprised to hear southern American rap music...made me feel like I was back home in Texas :) We didn't really utilize the bottom floor. That's where the house music was. It was much larger, with way more people and way cooler down there, so we'd go down there to cool off in between hip hop songs. haha They have a pretty decent drink menu but make sure when you order a drink upstairs you get a ticket from the window in the corner so you can hand it to the bartender. That was unusual to me, but no big deal. The DJ was good and I had a pretty epic first night in Rio with my girls thanks to Fosfobox. I'll go again next time I'm in Rio!
