Or maybe the doctor is returning calls/relaying test results while patients wait to see the doctor. There are no nurses. No np's, no PA's. Only one or two med techs who check your vitals and administer Covid, flu, etc tests. If you come on a day that there is no doctor or other clinician, you're out of luck. I only go there for Covid, etc testing. That done, I've called for results but there is no one qualified to give you verbal results. The law says only a doc, nurse or other clinician can give you results. They can fax it to you but then again, only a clinician can do that. I've waited days for answers. They have a portal app but no one is at the other end to give you the text verification "code" and it's not automated! Once I came in for a urine culture. I knew I had an infection. I gave a sample and put it in a box in the wall where I was told to put it. Hours later I got a call asking me where I left the sample, and was told they couldn't find it. I told them it was right where the doctor told me to put it. Frustrating? yes Then they couldn't tell me the result because there was no clinician there to tell me. I called 4 times before I could get the result and let my doctor (Cornell) know. This time I had a Covid test, strep and flu and RSV tests. I was told they would call me in 2 days. At 330 pm on the 2nd day I called. Same problem. No one there to give me the results. They said a doctor would call me at 4 pm. But it was already 43O pm! They then said 530 pm. It's now 7:15 pm and I received no call. At least the person on the phone was professional and lovely, but I still don't have my test results. The above are only a few of the poor experiences I've had at Essen or UriCare or whatever name they call themselves yesterday or tomorrow. The heck with convenience. From now on I'm going to city MD where there are clinicians and much better care and service. If they can't get these simple tasks done right, just imagine how bad Essen's medical care could be. Since they have also expanded next door into primary care, I fear worse for those who Also go there for convenience. It's not worth it and it could very well be a disaster.

*This review is for the cafeteria only.*…read more This is a large hospital and the area is sometimes referred to as Montefiore Country, since there are quite a lot of offices connected to this hospital for several blocks. Opinions vary on the actual hospital and while I'm sure some aspects are quite good, others are probably not. For example, if my intestines were hanging out, I'd probably attempt to put them back in myself rather than go inside this ER. In fact, you're probably healthier OUTSIDE Monte ER's than inside. If you want to spend an average of 12 or more hours, want to be uncomfortable, and risk sickness, then the ER is for you. But I digress. I sometimes work in the area and decided to change up my lunch options and try the cafeteria - knowing that it IS a hospital cafeteria in the first place. Depending on the time you go, you may or may not find seating - but there is plenty of it during a less crowded time. They do clean, but it's not as frequent as they should. It's very spacious, so you don't have to sit next to anyone if you prefer not to. There is also a charging station for your devices inside here. The food itself ranges, but most is decent - the problem is the selection. Montefiore is a Jewish hospital, so the food is always prepared Kosher. Plus Montefiore is on their "health" kick, so you won't get the best beverage selection inside (unless you find the gift shop) and only what they deem as healthy (water, oj, diet/sugar free soda, etc). They go hard sometimes on their vegan specialties, so even if you're not a vegan have fun. Depending on when you go, they have pre-made sandwiches available. Again, Montefiore prepares the way they deem it and not how a lot of others would normally like it, so be prepared. They do have a deli inside, but I haven't tried it yet to see the difference. The hot food menu is different daily and sometimes the options are decent. They also have a salad bar, but it lacks during less busy times. The staff is usually ok. They have more than enough condiments to satisfy most. It's a little pricier than they have any right to be, but due to the limitations of food choices in the area, it's sometimes a safe bet and worth spending the extra few cents to eat a little healthier (when I want to Monte, not when YOU want to) at times. Also some of the businesses in the area don't have adequate seating for lunch options, so this is where the added value (to me) is. Parking is horrendous. The area is busy and the main streets are metered. There is plenty of signage for alternate side and just general no parking, so unless you're on foot or use mass transit and are going to be in the area anyway, I'd never come here just for this place. Again, I sometimes work in the area, so it's ok for me. Monte's parking garages are often full and overcharge (even for employees). So say what you will about the actual hospital and it's surrounding facilities, but as far as their cafeteria goes, it isn't a bad choice in the area at times.

Absolutely no taste and sick people need proper nourishment. I was admitted and for dinner they served me process meat with gravy on it. No fresh fruits were ever served. One of the meal served, I had no idea if it was boneless chicken or fish. Either way it tasted horrible. Most hospitals have peanut butter and je sandwiches prepared in case the patient didn't like dinner or if they were still hungry after dinner but not this hospital. Parking in the garage was an issue because I drove myself to the ER after work and parked in the garage. I live in Connecticut so there wasn't a family member available to move my vehicle right away and the hospital administration DO NOT offer free parking to patients that are there for emergency and subsequently get admitted.

I have to many cold symptoms I have concerns about and seeking further assistance because I am also pregnant with these symptoms. After booking, In the appointment details it provides location's contact number and also notifying someone may reach out to you from the clinic to confirm your appointment. I scheduled at 9am for a 1pm. I get a call at Noon from a receptionist asking me if I can go to another clinic across The Bronx. Umm.... what for !? I live one block away from this one. She proceeded to tell me I may not be seen because I'm pregnant. What !? I asked what does that have to do with me being checked for my cold symptoms!? She could not explain or give enough reason. We disconnected and I walked over ahead than my scheduled time. When I arrived they told me the same thing, no provider can see you here because your pregnant. Something about licensing issues is last they provided. When I looked in the back I seen a female Doctor and she had an attitude and just shaking her head. I don't think it has anything to do with they "can not" it seemed like she just didn't want to be that bothered or check someone that closely because they are also pregnant. This place is a joke. Would of been my first time here too. Glad this place exposed themselves early !
