When you hire a professional, you expect just that, and a safety net like they promise. "If the mistake is ours, we will fix it with our guarantee." Well, they did make a mistake by just not checking a small box that stated my kids live with my wife and me. This resulted in us owing the IRS, but just before we paid the IRS, H&R called us because they had noticed the mistake they had made and asked to refile it with this amendment, resulting in a refund. We waited forever, knowing it would take a long time because an amendment they filed resulted in the old-fashioned check by mail. It never came, so we called H&R because by now we had received a collection notification from the IRS in the mail. H&R had us sign power of attorney over to Ann, the owner, so she could act on our behalf. She has gotten it so screwed up that I got a refund in the mail and owed for the same year, all in the same month. Ann told us it was no big deal and it would be taken care of. Now, a year later, that $3,000 just in interest is owed according to the IRS.
