Apparently the French don't use Yelp. Most reviews are 3-5 years old or older. I therefore had to move to Tripadvisor to find a restaurant in the neighborhood I'm staying at in Marseilles. Buried within I found this one.
The place is casual and hip with lots of plants, wine, and locals about. The owner, a young woman who speaks excellent English, helped us with the locally sourced menu, which was written in French on a chalkboard (typical in these parts). She and her colleague helped us choose local organic wines to go with fresh, excellently prepared food. We avoided the meatier foods in favor of local oysters, zucchini blossoms stuffed with cheese, sautéed wild mushrooms, and small potatoes--all prepared to perfection! We had a delicious brownie made with hazelnuts and coffee cream for dessert. Wonderful.
More people should know about Les Trois Coups!
PS We returned the next night, our last in Marseilles. We loved the place that much! On our second pass it was even better! Not sure exactly why but everything was sublime. read more
