We had Christmas Day dinner here on the recommendation of some other American tourists we met, and we were very glad we did. Les Trois Bornes is run by some brothers - one is the chef, one is the sommelier, etc. It's a very quaint neighborhood place, and it provided a lovely, lovely meal.
So we were welcomed in and seated at a table kind of midway through the restaurant. Up front toward the windows were some romantic two-tops and further back to our other side there were some larger tables for larger groups to eat more family style. The one brother who served as our waiter came over and made a wine recommendation - it was lovely and we told him to leave the bottle, which seemed to make him very happy. He then very kindly walked us through the entire French-language menu so we understood our options.
Our meal started with a lovely consume vegetable broth that was so rich and delicious. A perfect start to a good meal. I got the squid ink souffle for an appetizer, which was absolutely mind blowing. It had a raw egg yolk buried in the center, which made it even more rich and velvety. If you like egg yolks in stuff and a good souffle, get this! My husband got something like a soup ... I don't remember that much about it to be honest because I was face first in my souffle, lol. For entrees, my husband got the duck, which he said was fantastic. I got the lamb, which was cooked a perfect medium and was served as a kind of roulette, with the bones removed already. Lovely lovely entree with beautiful braised vegetables and a real earthy feel. For dessert, I got the most lovely poached pear and my husband got the glace (ice cream) with straws of merengue. It was SO GOOD. And the service was fabulous. We would absolutely recommend. read more
