Solid little Vietnamese joint!
After our first wine tour in the area, we were looking for a place to have lunch. We've been to Cafe Lavinal (overrated) and didn't want to have lunch at a tourist spot (eg any place along the riverfront). It was also day 13 of French food and so I wanted something light and refreshing.
We found Les Saigonnaises through Google Maps. It's in the middle of the Pauillac city, hidden away from the tourist area. Parking was a breeze and plentiful (there's a parking lot within walking distance).
We walked in and it's no frills. There's a small seating area that maybe fits 10 people.
The most adorable Vietnamese / French woman helped me and she was patient and super sweet.
They have:
- noodle bowls: salad + noodles + your choice of protein
- mini fried egg rolls, shrimp and / or pork
- fried shrimp
- fried rice
- dim sum
- fresh shrimp spring rolls
- other main proteins like a beef curry and another noodle dish, I couldn't tell what it was
The selection isn't that big and is definitely "French-cized" / Americanized. But the Vietnamese dishes they do offer were great and what I focused on.
We got 2 noodle bowls and some extra fried shrimp on the side. Really tasty and refreshing. Hit the spot honestly. I love French food but I couldn't eat another baguette or croissant if I wanted to.
This place deserves so much more love. The people who work here and super friendly and the food is tasty, especially if you're looking for something light .
Prices are extremely reasonable and they take card. read more
