This wasn't for a lack of restaurants in the city of painters--it was because Les Mimosas was so damn delicious! I tried my first bigourneaux (periwinkles) here, lightly boiled in salt and pepper to exquisite tenderness and amusing to fish out with the tiny pin. For lunch one day I had clam pasta--they were sadly out of the pink clams, but the pasta tasted delicious all the same--and another the moules frites in curry sauce. It was copious and stained my fingers yellow, but so worth it. I even managed to finish the fries (chunky, crispy, and home-cooked). My family and I shared a stuffed clam appetizer, the memory of which still makes me salivate. Garlicky, lightly breaded, chewy but not too firm, these clams went down easily. And I even used the freshly-cut bread to mop up their oily sauce. We also "shared" an oyster platter, though I had trouble getting the others to enjoy more than just one. They'll like them one day, I'm sure of it. I wasn't always such a fan of shellfish myself! The patron served us himself, and both he and the bartender added to our enjoyment with their friendly banter (by the way, they make a mean gin and tonic!). At lunch on the third day, we hit the sweet spot and they had trouble keeping up with all the orders. No matter: we were content to wait longer with our drinks since we knew what was coming. It seemed that everyone else was happy to wait as well! Try to get a seat next to the windows if you can, or on the terrace if it's warm enough. A shellfish tower is best enjoyed with a premium view of the port. Maybe one day I'll get my in-laws interested in all the shellfish. Just maybe.

Yes for the spot, yes for the wine but a big no for the food !…read moreI came to that place 3 times in the last 3 years, I'm French and know about good food but sorry this is the negative point here, it's always appealing on the menu but always as well greasy and not the finest in the plate :( this year they have a croque monsieur that taste like corn beef melted with cheese.. disgusting and heavy, the terrine has the same taste.. the sides who comes with it, doesn't have any flavor, missing the vinegar pickles somewhere here...last year was the linguine alla vongole bathing in a oily juice...:( It's a shame because everyone other there are sweet, the bosses are super cool and gentle but sorry this is what I think... I hope they will adjust this in the future to touch the holy grail! In addition, before I left I ordered some ribs because I was starving as the rest wasn't pleasant, not bad but they they don't know how to make a bbq salsa at all, it tasted like ketchup with no sweetness.. Place like this with that kind of very good wine lists should take example to the verre volé in Paris, good products and simple recipes, not pretentious, it always wins.... Don't drop too much critics like this but it's expensive, hard to have a table so people should know where they are heading to... In addition to this post, I was sick and I throw up later on the beach all my lunch.. a very bad moment!

Her…read moremeandering ways throughout the region of Morbihan kept me mesmerized and always on the lookout for her. As my wedding month continued, a birthday celebration for my mother-in-law brought us to a place where I could be up close and personal with la Laïta for the first time! She had me. Even if you aren't hungry, come here for a cold cider to enjoy the natural beauty that la Laïta has to offer. Listen to the birds, watch the kayakers come and go or simply enjoy the ebb and flow of the tide. Across the water from the crêperie, locals enjoy each other's company and nature with a picnic on the grass. Directly across the water are the ruins of the Abbey of Saint Maurice, protected by a gated entrance painted in, what I like to call traditional "Brittany blue". Although not identified as a traditional color, it is the soft blue that is commonly seen on many homes across the region. In its past life, the restaurant was a ferryman's house. As such, it has room for guests to dine outside on the covered terrace or inside, in the event of rain. Our group of 15 sat on the terrace comfortably. Family owned and operated, service is authentic and efficient. Can I just say how amazed I was at their prices! Soooo reasonable. For our large party the total came to around €300. For 15 people! This is with many having 2 crepes, dessert and plenty of cider and or wine. I was impressed. Especially at the quality and freshness of the food. When in Bretagne it is always a good idea to enjoy the fresh seafood. My smoked salmon salad and seafood crêpe, fondly known as la Laïta (petite Noix de St Jacques, Crevettes, Calamars, moules, sauce à la Crème et tomato) were excellent starters. They were promptly followed by a chorizo & raclette crêpe, topped off with a Caramel à la crème crêpe. I kinda pigged out. But hey, crêpes are crêpes and that's how you're meant to enjoy them. There's ample parking in front of the restaurant. Although a little off the beaten path, if you make the effort to find it, you will happily bookmark in order to return again.
