The rug was gritty, and there was a set of stains on the blanket that was indicative of a previous sexual encounter. 2) The hallways were always dark, even in the daytime. You had to press a light switch to see where you were going, and the light timed out after a couple minutes. If you were caught by the sudden darkness, you had to fumble your way to the light switch, which wasn't lit. 3) The shower setup was such that you were continually pushing against the metal hose while standing under the shower head. 4) The room was so tiny, that two people had to squeeze past each other when moving around. 5) The person cleaning up the breakfast tables took the unused packets of butter from one table, and returned the butter to the general bin. All that put together makes for a not-so-warm-and-fuzzy feeling, which is not what you want when staying in a strange place for the night.

The manager told us there was a 60 euro upcharge for the main castle, which I was not offered on Hotels.com. So the room was okay. Up a flight of stairs and down a long hall. Our bathroom had a bathtub with shower sprayer. There is no tv and WiFi is spotty. The breakfast offering is limited but delicious. The croissants were wonderful. You fill out a menu when you arrive for the next morning. Furnishings in the main sitting room appear to be castle authentic, and there is a musty smell. Parking is tricky. This is a working tomato farm. A bottle of water is offered in the room. Other than that you should bring any other food and drink you want to your room. The restaurant on sight is not open on Monday for dinner so the staff made a reservation for us at La Cave, which is nearby and was delightful. All in all it was a pleasant experience and a fun stay!

There is a laundromat 5 min drive and a supermarket a quick 5-10 min walk from the hotel. The rooms and bathrooms are very clean and comfortable. The price is quite reasonable. The breakfast is inexpensive and offers a selection of fresh yogurts, cheeses, jams, hams, breads, etc. Coffee is excellent. Many juices and some fruit as well. The reception is very helpful with advice on the area, places to visit, shop, laundry, etc. Their English is clear and far better than my French. Also, the wifi is strong and fast.
