In every store you walk in, the employees there were nice and helpful. There are so many stores selection and each one is unique. Depending on what you are looking for, I think price can be above average to high. Which is normal for a touristy destination. Loved the umbrella alley, the views of the river from the chateau, and the funiculaire! Make sure to bring cash that is less than $100 or 100CAD because they do not take that at the funiculaire.

CENTRALLY LOCATED DEPT STORE IN OLD QUEBEC…read more During our visit to Quebec City, we dropped by the Simons department store that is centrally located in Old Quebec on Cote de la Fabrique. It is near the Notre Dame Basilica de Quebec. Simons is a very small and quiet department store. Convenient for the tourist who forgot to pack something or now needs warmer clothing for the cold Quebec weather. We were surprised that Simons did not have a small giftware section where we might purchase a unique souvenir of our visit to Old Quebec that would not end up being a dusty tchotchke.

The attractive entrance suggests an upscale indoor shopping galleria. Unfortunately, there was little to see or do in this dark poorly lit arcade. We enjoyed shopping at a very nice store specializing in maple syrup products. Other than this one attractive shop, there was an art gallery, a money exchange and empty storefronts.

So as you can imagine it was filled with students. Students grabbing a bite to eat, students studying on their laptops and meeting up to chill with friends. It really brings me back to my time in College. Good memories. Having that deadline of a midterm you needed to study for (or submitting that report or essay). Thinking of what girls to chase after and get the attention of on the weekend and what party plans I had for Friday and Saturday. Plus living off of a student budget meant lean times some weekends. Life was so much simpler back then. Coming to the pyramid was akin to my college life memories. Studying, partying, having fun and doing it over again. At the pyramid the great table selection means a great place to meetup or study. Also the healthy selection of cheap restaurants fits the budget of a student. If I was a student again I'd be living here. Good memories! One thing however that was atrocious was the parking lot. Man o man....talk about a poor design.

It is for the people who live there. The prepared foods- sausages, cheese sandwiches, macaroons, ice cream- are delicious. We had an air bnb in the area and we were able to cook come delicious things on the cheap from this market. We were also able to buy souvenir treats like candies, maple syrup etc. cheaper, and of better quality, than the overpriced stuff you find in the touristy areas. Most of the vendors prefer French but will help you get what you want. This market is a fully immersive experience. Musicians randomly play music throughout. Everyone in the group loved it.
