A fun fact: One of the neighborhood's houses belonged to Louis Jolliet, the French-Canadian explorer credited with discovering the Mississippi River. The stone structures that line the pedestrian-only streets now house a wide variety of shops, services, and restaurants. This is the perfect place to visit for strolling and meandering, and it's a truly lovely area year-round. CENTRALLY LOCATED DEPT STORE IN OLD QUEBEC…read more During our visit to Quebec City, we dropped by the Simons department store that is centrally located in Old Quebec on Cote de la Fabrique. It is near the Notre Dame Basilica de Quebec. Simons is a very small and quiet department store. Convenient for the tourist who forgot to pack something or now needs warmer clothing for the cold Quebec weather. We were surprised that Simons did not have a small giftware section where we might purchase a unique souvenir of our visit to Old Quebec that would not end up being a dusty tchotchke.

I opened a PayPal dispute, and Simons told me they would refund me immediately if I closed the dispute....I CLOSED THE DISPUTE AND THEY AGAIN REFUSED TO REFUND MY MONEY. I do not know how this company stays in business. They are completely unethical.

The attractive entrance suggests an upscale indoor shopping galleria. Unfortunately, there was little to see or do in this dark poorly lit arcade. We enjoyed shopping at a very nice store specializing in maple syrup products. Other than this one attractive shop, there was an art gallery, a money exchange and empty storefronts.
