TLDR; a good fromagerie to get some cheese along with some meats/fruits from other shops and have…read moreyourself a picnic and champ de mars. i recommend having an idea of what cheese you want to purchase, or at least the type, because the employee seemed impatient with us while we were deciding. my friend and i decided to walk down rue cler to pick up food for our quintessential eiffel tower picnic. we ended up purchasing two types of cheese for our lunch, as well as some meats, quiche, and grapes from other shops (see my other reviews). // store, service // this shop seems to be widely regarded as the main fromagerie in the area. they have a wide assortment of cheeses to choose from. i am not too knowledgeable when it comes to cheese, so i cannot compare prices with other shops, but the cheese seemed to be good quality. we wanted to get recommendations from an employee since we weren't sure what would go best with our meats and grapes. the employee who helped us said comte was the most popular french cheese and gave us a small sample. when you decide what you want, you guide the employee to cut a desired portion and then pay for it. we asked for other recommendations, but the employee was fairly impatient with us and said he didn't know what to tell us. it felt like he was also rushing us to pick and order something, which was not the best feeling (it honestly rushed us in ordering less, whereas if he treated us better we would have ordered more). maybe it's because the language barrier or we were clearly tourists, but he seemed irritated that we asked him for recommendations. // comte and brie cheese // we ended up getting a slice of comte and a slice of brie. the comte is sweet (easy to slice) and we really liked it with our baguette and meats. the brie was creamier (easy to spread on bread). two small slices came out to around 3-4 euros.

ATTENTION Non-Parisians. This is a must in your visit to Paris. We had the €30 tasting platter. It…read morecame with 14 varieties of cheeses, dried cranberries, and walnuts. It also came with a basket of the best bread we have had since arriving in France. What is awesome about this place is the owner, Matthieu. He was so nice and explained the cheese, the type, and where it came from. Of the 14, we liked about 10 or 11, a couple were a bit strong, and one of them was so strong we could not do it. But it was an awesome experience and great cheese. You must try this for the Fromage experience. Thank you. If you are local, this guy should be your cheese guy. Awesome.

We let Pierre do the ordering and he didn't disappoint. I am not a huge cheese connoisseur, but I do enjoy the ones I like thoroughly! And, delicious sourdough bread to go along with it, yes please! They ordered wine and I ordered a Stella beer. The different cheeses were great, for the most part for me lol And we couldn't stop eating the bread! The waiter spoke English and was knowledgeable. Service was a tiny bit slow, as we were the only customers outside. However, I think in this city, that's how it usually is. People sit and take their time, which we did, but we also needed more bread! :) Definitely recommend this place! But beware, there was also a young child that kept coming up to our table asking for our food, with an adult standing nearby waiting for her as she went table to table. The sadness and questions of this child did take away a bit of our nice experience :(
