Food 4/5 Service 4/5…read moreAmbience 4/5 We ordered the lamb chops and a chicken skewer combo and chose plantains and rice for the two sides, and a ginger beverage. The chicken combo comes with sautéed onions. The food was quite delicious and very flavourful. The ginger beverage was true ginger and quite sharp. The restaurant seats about 20 people at either tables or at the counter. There is art for sale in the restaurant. You have to see it! It was so beautiful. Street parking is available across the road.

But given the 6 reviews posted when I was looking for a place to eat tonight I decided to go for it. We were not disappointed at all with this meal. All of the food was so wonderfully flavorful. My mother and I both opted to get the chicken kebabs. I had two skewers she had one. My sides were rice pilaf, and plantains, she had fries and plantains. Both meals also came with sautéed onions. The chicken kebabs were cooked with green bell peppers and onions on a skewer. The skewers were removed, which was really nice so we didn't have to deal with trying to get the meat off. The meat was so flavorful, tender, moist... really wonderfully done. My mother said she wanted to ask the chef how they managed to keep the chicken so moist. The onions that accompanied the mail as a side were equally as bursting with flavor different than what the kebab had on it for flavoring, but equally as good. The rice peel. I've had a wonderful taste as well. My mom enjoyed our fries. And we both love the plantains. They were cooked so well, love that caramelization. We both managed to eat a really good amount of our food. I would've finished all of it if I could've, but I reached my breaking point! The restaurant is not very big. I'd say max 20 people could sit inside, if that. There was some kind of weekend barbecue deal going on, and there was a really healthy amount of takeout orders as we are waiting for our food. I saw the amount of order as a plus as we were waiting! I will say that the food did take a little bit long to come out, and under normal circumstances, I might take a little bit of point wise on the review because of that. However, given how busy they were, and that I could see that they were working hard to get everything taken care of, it wasn't due to slacking in any way, I'm still feeling a five is deserved. I'd say this place would definitely be good for takeout! Also good for a sit down meal if you have some time and can take your time to eat a slower meal just to be safe if they're busy. Presently there is some repair work going on to the building so there is scaffolding outside, but do not let that deter you from going inside. The inside was decorated with bright, vibrant cloth and artwork and was very welcoming. Clean dining area. I did not go to the restroom area so I cannot comment on that. Staff was welcoming. Overall recommend for sure!

Located up a small road off of Rue Saint-Jean, the restaurant is but a small pocket…read more I came for the lamb couscous but apparently they don't serve that anymore (despite it still being on the menu). I opted for the prince's couscous which had lamb and chicken, she got the pastilla. We also got some Moroccan mint tea. The tea came out pretty sweet, like a southern sweet tea. But the mint was fresh and tasted great. Unfortunately, we had to suffer through some fairly loud and high-pitched Moroccan music while waiting on our food. I'm sad to report that my food was basically reheated leftovers. I heard the microwave door slamming and could tell my chicken was definitely reheated because it was dry, hard, and not warmed all the way through. The couscous itself was fresh but wasn't fluffy-- it had enough wetness to it that it just wasn't right. My wife got the pastilla, a new dish for her. It was probably the freshest-made item, but not her thing since it was basically ground chicken and parsley in a pastry dusted with cinnamon and almonds. The wife was our waitress and she was sweet. She spoke very little English, so her husband translated from the back of the restaurant. The husband running the restaurant was snapping green beans and dropped one, I watched as he picked it up off the floor and placed it into the bowl with the other beans. The issue for us is that he seemed to have very little care for his restaurant and his customers. In all, we would not return.

It was definitely not on the list for tourists as it was only half full when we got there, and everyone but us were local (speaking French). We had not planned or even thought of a Moroccan restaurant while in Vieux Quebec but (spoiler) we were very glad we did! We ordered the mixed sampler for appetizer, and a couscous royal and lamb and artichoke tagine. The appetizer was excellent! A mixture of clearly homemade items, all of which were delicious without exception! The lamb tagine was excellent, as was the couscous. Both were hearty plates infused with subtle spices leading to an excellent result. Better than most places I have eaten in Morocco. Like most Moroccan restaurants, alcohol is not served. However, customers are welcome to bring their own. As for the main courses, both were outstanding! If you like Moroccan food, or want to try something different and delicious, this place is for you!! Very reasonably priced, intimate interior atmosphere, and highly personal service by the wife of Redouan the owner/chef, Khadija. Highly recommended!! 5/5.
