We were here on a Wednesday night and thought we wouldn't need a reservation, but a large group had…read moreshown up so all the tables were full. The owner was kind enough to squeeze us in at 9:30, which is far later than most French restaurants would allow customers to come. But despite the late start, we had a full meal, completely relaxed, and were the last ones to leave at around midnight.
We began with cocktails: cocktail royale for me (champagne, chestnut and armagnac, yum), cocktail americano for my husband (basically, a negroni). Our wine was an Irouleguy, which was fantastic. For appetizers, I had "egg rolls" of black pudding and a gizzard salad (so good), while my husband had sauteed shrimp. For the main course, I had chicken stuffed with crayfish, while my husband got lamb cooked two ways. Our desserts were raspberry mousse encased in white chocolate with pear sorbet, and a creme brulee with strawberry-and-red-pepper sorbet. Both featured gravity-defying constructions of chocolate. The staff was friendly and the outdoor seating was excellent, right by the river and the famous bridge as you enter town. This is the priciest restaurant in town, but it's also very much worth it in quality.
