I am very disappointed in the change in attitude, but it is time for me to find a new doctor. Most of his staff is very helpful, although I did have one PA that wasn't very pleasant, but I learned to avoid any appointments with her. Also, Dr. Politis is accepting new patients, but his existing patients, such as I, have to wait nearly six months to get an appointment with him, despite being his patient for several years. Seeing a PA is mostly the person you will see once you are an established patient. I have already found a new dr. and I will have two appointments in two weeks and another one in a couple of months; 3 appointments with a Dr...NOT a PA, in 3 months, and he spent over an hour with me with my first appointment, so I am thrilled with this new change!!

As for as Dr Politis goes, he is terrific. He takes his time, explains everything, he's a good Dr. The office is clean and orderly, I would recommend him and his staff to anyone.

He has been…read morefamiliar with all of the (minor fortunately) conditions I've had and how to treat them effectively or has referred me to a specialist. I am probably the exception to his patients in being relatively proactive when it comes to my healthcare and he is usually willing to place orders for whatever bloodwork and screening tests that I request when I see him to stay on top of my health. I had to push to get a CAC scan in 2019 which revealed much more coronary artery calcium than either of us would have guessed based on my other risk factors. However the medical establishment (AHA) only recognized the value of it as a tool for coronary vascular disease risk assessment within a year of my requesting the test so I certainly don't blame him for not recommending it sooner.

I was sold after my first appointment. If you live in the St. Peters/O'Fallon area, this is your guy. If you live downtown, this is still your guy. I swear he's worth the drive. I've never had a doctor pay more attention to what I'm telling him and genuinely care about what it is that I'm saying... and that's priceless. He's also a pretty funny guy who tries to be "hip" to what's going on in the world and strikes up the funniest conversations! Dr. McIntosh is thorough and knowledgeable, and he'll get you back up and running in no time. I've seen him for typical stuff such as allergies and colds, and he makes great recommendations and always gives me tips that help me feel ten times better. I even had to call the after-hours line once with a bad sinus infection (sure he appreciated that one) and he was still as caring and attentive even though I was bugging him late at night. What puts him above all others is how he follows up and doesn't give up until you've fixed whatever the problem is. For myself, the allergy queen, he prescribed a medicine and a nose spray and had me check in with him 7 days later via the phone, and we spoke that often until he had me on a plan that was working wonders. Looks like I'll be driving that 45 minutes next time I need him!

Dr. McIntosh has been my primary care doctor for over a decade. He is very personable and has an excellent bedside manner. He has seen me through quite a few health issues and always pops through when I've been admitted to the hospital. We don't have all the answers for my health problems but I can't say he doesn't LISTEN to every single one of them. He orders tests and refers me to specialists when needed. I've never felt misunderstood or dismissed which is not something I can say for many many specialists I've seen. To be fair, Auto Immune diseases are notoriously difficult to diagnose but I can confidently say Dr. McIntosh is doing everything he can to help me get answers. I would send anyone I know to see him without reservation. *Read up on Celiac Disease, doc! The amount of misinformation from medical professionals on this is criminal and a huge disservice to those who have it. Effects from celiac damage can spill over into almost every other part of your body. Celiac is for life and a negative blood test/scope (after a positive one) means you're doing well GF. it does NOT mean Celiac went away and you can eat what you wish! Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk (which I shockingly have to give to almost every doctor I've seen.)

I got one sentence out, and he immediately cut me off. Told me nothing was wrong, and asked why I was in a wheelchair. He spoke mostly to my husband. Apparently women can't understand medical dialogue. I could have understood that there might not be anything he could fix, but the wheelchair comment was snide, and very very condescending. I have never before been made to feel so small. I very much feel like he was trying to use my appt to make up for how late his schedule was running. I thought even if there weren't surgical issues, maybe he could point me in the right direction. Apparently I wasn't worth the time.

I met with him in the OR suite, and we discussed the procedure, possible complications and other details. I had questions. He had answers. A very open, personable and knowledgeable surgeon. GI is his specialty. THEN, I was anesthetized for the procedure. He came by recovery when I was "more" aware, and my sister was in the room (four ears are better than two), to discuss discoveries, how to move forward, prescriptions and diet. The knowledge is oh-so important. But the bedside manner counts for a lot, too. And he has both. Call January 24 from his office indicated -- after pathology was performed on the tumor -- it was exactly what was expected and benign (not some OTHER type of tumor) and that clear margins were achieved. Follow-up in six months.
