When I told her that I was positive my kid goes to this school she told me I could wait there all day if I wanted to. Another parent told me that Miss Diane Diamond sent her kids on the bus when they weren't supposed to be on the bus. So her kids were missing and the bus was trying to drop her kids off at a place they didn't know. Crazy how she is misplacing children and has no clue who attends her school. This school is very organized when it comes to the releasing of the students. They display exceptional organizational skills during student drop off and pick up times. It's not easy trying to control over 500 kids being released at once but Mitchell staff has figured it out. If I could change a few things it would be more programs based on certain skills and cognitive goals, and also the valet sucks because they recently made it so that they can't let special education out before 3:15p so now we're conjoined with Gen-Ed and kindergartens dismissal. After a serious situation involving my child, I was disappointed not only by what occurred, but by how it was handled afterward. Instead of feeling supported or taken seriously, we were left feeling dismissed and pushed aside during an already difficult time. There were concerning interactions involving staff that left my child upset and emotionally affected. One of the most upsetting moments was when the principal suggested in front of both parents that our child might be better off switching schools, rather than seeing stronger efforts made to resolve the situation and support the student. We later brought this concern to the superintendent but felt it was not meaningfully addressed or resolved. Overall, communication, accountability, and compassion from both school and district leadership did not meet the expectations we have for a safe and supportive learning environment. I encourage parents to stay involved, ask questions, and advocate strongly for their children if concerns arise.
