I am happy to drive the one-hour (plus) to go visit him on a weekly basis because Parkside is absolutely amazing. From the moment I met the Owner, Seema, she made me feel comfortable and understood. The facility is new, clean, organized and has the most wonderful staff members. Everyone is so loving and caring and treats the residents so kindly. The rooms are well furnished; there are plenty of activities to keep residents busy and the staff is very open with communication and addressing any concerns. From the moment we met the Parkside staff, we were impressed by their kindness and helpfulness. The Tamarac location is brand new (as of March 2025) and it is dedicated exclusively to Memory Care services (as opposed to assisted living). Parkside also offers furnished rooms, which made our move even easier. When you tour the new location, you can see that every detail has been carefully considered, and everything is pristine. The central kitchen would be a dream for any professional chef, and the beauty salon is fully equipped and conveniently located for all residents to use (see photos). Moving a parent or loved one who suffers from dementia can be overwhelming, but the staff at Parkside went above and beyond to make the transition as smooth as possible. She was just as helpful gave me a tour and answered every question I had. I then met Norma and the nursing staff answered my questions and instructions were given of requirements from a dr to enter facility. All the caretakers are nice every single one. And the weekend nurse Wendy is a great source of positive friendly energy. I then decided to sign up after touring 18 places. The director Laurie went over everything and we closed the deal. I visit two to 3 times a week for over a year and whenever I visit my mother is clean and cared for. I have peace of mind knowing my mother is taken care of it was the hardest thing I had to do. They have a state-of-the-art clubhouse that has ping pong tables , a theater and a gym The apartments themselves are very large 900 square feet and all of them have a balcony. The balconies look out on the trees including the pool for some and the lake for others. The only negative in the two units we saw were the kitchens, which are outdated. Two meals a day are provided so I was not as concerned about the kitchen. Mom and I had dinner in their dining room and I have to say the food was very good. They have a regular menu and then an alternate menu that you can choose from daily. There are four course dinners available if you want to eat a lot. My mom will be moving in next week. All feedback suggested that Mom was not in any condition to go back to her condo alone. What to do?? It just so happened that Stacey had recently found a place for my uncle that suited his needs, and relieved my aunt of the full responsibility for his care. I had her number and called in a panic. Not only did she get a 48-hour extension on the rehab release, but found a nice facility that offered independent and assisted living, the latter of which my mom needed. Stacey walked me through the steps and connected me with people I needed to deal with to process paperwork and finances, rent furniture until I could get some of my mom's stuff over there, and maintain contact with regular visits until I could get out to help out face-to-face. Even with help, this process was overwhelming and a bit traumatic for all concerned. I can't imagine where I would have started "shopping" for a place where I'd know my mom would be safe and cared for. After a brief meeting with my mom (and a very short conversation about finances), Stacey immediately found a place that has been an excellent match for my mom's needs and tastes. I absolutely recommend her services. She knows what's available and how to match people with the resources that will best suit their needs. The staff are consistently friendly, the public areas are spotless, and security is always kind and welcoming when you come to visit. Parking is plentiful, with both paved spots and shaded parking available in front of buildings under the trees. The food is delicious, and the dining plan makes daily life easy and enjoyable. You can grab a quick order at the bistro or sit down for a more traditional restaurant-style meal. So many changes coming at you, questioning if its the right decision, is the place safe, clean and a good fit, and can the person needing care fit in as you both face this bumpy transition. But, Junette, Mike and Sharma here at The Preserve all worked hard to help both me and my partner through the whole process and continue to do so after the initial transition. As a person who has worked in the fields of health and human services most of my career, I've seen my fair share of "facilities" which I wouldn't trust to take care of my cat, much less a parent or spouse. The Preserve at Palm Aire is the closest thing to a cruise ship resort designed with the health and well being of all its residents in mind. The staff have been uniformly helpful and caring on all levels; they provide in-house medical, nursing, PT/OT staffing; a pleasant colorful design and layout; pool and spa, lots of activities and resident volunteers who connect with new people to help integrate them into the community. There are social work supports, clean and well kept rooms, common areas and grounds. They provide levels of care based on the loved ones needs with an objective full assessment that focuses of supporting the resident's most possible support without taking away independence. They have great independent living quarters which frees you from mundane tasks such as housecleaning, meal prep and even dog walking, so you can focus on getting the most out of your body, mind and soul. The assisted living sections have aides checking in on residents every 4 hours and all of those residents are given "alert pendants" to wear 24/7 so that help is only a button push away. And if memory care is a concern for you or your loved one now or in the future, they provide both a Bridges program to maximize freedom while supporting memory and a more secure space for those who are at risk of wondering or in more advanced stages. My partner is adjusting well and has even made some fast friends due to their efforts to help him integrate. Families can visit anytime and either share a meal there with them or take your loved one out for a "night on the town". They are so small pet friendly that I and my service/therapy dog come multiple times a week and provide some pet therapy to staff and residents alike while visiting my loved one. Prices are comparable to other facilities, but they don't "nickel and dime you to death" and are upfront with monthly costs based on level of care and size of room. But, I see the value they provide for what is charged and cannot say that about many places. They also don't have outrageous "buy-in" fees. There is a small community entry charge which is FAR less then most places. The food is good and lots of it, though they could use a wider daily selection and will hopefully reopen their all-day self-serve community cafes with snacks soon.
