Does anyone still use Yelp?? No matter. Here I go anyway…read more While navigating healthcare in the United States of America generally is, and probably always will be, an absolute nightmare, all of the personnel and staff I've dealt with (with only a few exceptions) at NYP Brooklyn Methodist have been outstanding. I became a patient in the Advanced Maternal Fetal Medicine department after my pregnancy became complicated, and every doctor I met with exerted an impressive level of care, patience, and compassion as we navigated a very frightening and emotional experience. Our baby was ultimately delivered early but totally healthy- and all staff in the labor & delivery unit and mother / baby unit were also wonderful. We now have follow-up appointments regularly with pediatric speech and OT. Not only are the therapists extremely kind and wonderful to work with, they are helpful with scheduling appointments, insurance navigation, and referrals. The quality of human beings working at NYP is exceptional, and I only hope they are granted the compensation, the support, and a work environment that allows them to continue doing excellent work for their patients and community.

If you're a Type 1 diabetic, proceed with caution at this Brooklyn location. In my experience, I…read morewas left with a median blood sugar around 230 for three days, and I did not feel the team treated that as seriously as they should have. I also had concerns about how staff communicated with and referred to patients. A lead nurse referred to patients of a different race, ethnicity, or background as "these people," which I found inappropriate and concerning. It made me question whether patients are fully protected from bias, discrimination, or unequal treatment at this location. Managing Type 1 diabetes requires careful monitoring and urgency. Based on my experience, I did not feel confident that my condition was monitored or addressed at the level it deserved. I would strongly recommend that Type 1 diabetics ask detailed questions about diabetes management, patient advocacy, and escalation procedures before receiving care here.

Yes of course because it was a Friday night there were a couple crazy screaming people who were given sedation at some point so everyone got some peace. Miss Ross is wonderful, very professional and thorough. She has a pretty straight forward personality, not into chit chat, but she gets the job done! I knew if I asked miss Ross for anything, it was coming. Dr Michelle was fantastic. Funny, sweet, and knowledgeable. Took time explaining everything to me and answering my 1 million questions But the real star of this visit was Sergio, who was doing x-rays. I was in too much pain to really pay attention but I think he used to run the ortho clinic and now he does x-rays? Like he used to be a surgeon maybe? I was in crisis ok I don't have GREAT recall. Either way he kept me cracking up, loved trading jokes with him, love how comfortable he made the process of x-raying a broken ankle, and I'm trying to see if I can move my orthopedic appointment to Kings County because of him. I wish he could be my doctor, my dentist, my therapist, my uncle, my wedding officiant, etc. such a sweet and super smart guy. Although I never hope to end up in the ER again, I hope I run into sergio again maybe like at the park lol

About two years ago I had an emergency and revisited. I was terrified of what to expect. Let me tell you, THINGS HAVE CHANGED! FOR THE BETTER! MUCH BETTER! Everything including wait time, was like chalk and cheese! So different. I've been attending this hospital somewhat regularly as this is also now my primary care clinic. Dr. S. Nainan my PCP is a wonderful Doctor. Even if it's via a zoom call, my concerns are immediately addressed. I feel heard. I feel respected. I am properly cared for. From reception to attendants, security, technicians, office staff, and medical team, they ALL care for me so well! Special mention MUST BE MADE of E. Mantel. That lady goes above and beyond ALWAYS! Words cannot express my appreciation for the entire team at Orthopedics. On another note I used to run from needles. I used to be deathly afraid of them. Now, now having my blood taken by the lab at KCH and getting vaccinated is all a breeze. A BREEZE I TELL YOU! I look forward to the needles because the Nurses are professional and I don't feel a thing! One time when I was sick and frustrated (you know how it goes when you're under the weather and grumpy), the Nurse treated me so lovingly I felt as if I was in my mummy's arms. I started to cry. Tears of release and gratitude for the care I received. I'll continue to share about my experiences here because they need to be recognized for their outstanding service to our community. An important thing to consider is this is also (for want of a better phrase) a "One Stop Shop". Whether it's an emergency, or blood work, medication, finance, MRI, x-rays, scan-all types, gynecology, Dexa scan, dental anything to do with your health and to avoid you having to trek all over the city just to complete a visit is available here. Thank you NYC Health + Hospital -Kings County! THANK YOU SO MUCH! The End.

I've taken the COVID-19 PCR test at different test sites around the city a few times now and am all…read moretoo familiar with the anxious feeling that comes between the time you take the test and when you get your results. I've been lucky to have been clued into sites that have a turnaround time of just 2 days so I haven't waited too long but I know of many folks who have waited as long as 14 days for theirs. I took a rapid PCR test here at this Crown Heights site and got my results back in a mere 2 hours. Everything about this process, from booking my appointment to entering the site, to getting my results back via online portal were incredibly straightforward and efficient, and I'd recommend anyone visit nyc.gov's rapid testing site page to find your nearest location if you need to get tested. 1218 Prospect Place is also the address for the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene but has now set up a special covid testing site. Once you're in the building you're asked to write your name and time of visit on a sheet of paper, and then you're walked over to a small room where they'll ask for your information, and some general questions like if you have any symptoms and if you've traveled internationally in the last week. I didn't love being in a small unventilated room with other people but they moved people in and out of that room relatively quickly. I was then walked into the room where I got tested, and I was swabbed and out of that room in just a couple of minutes. The process of getting tested at Bellevue Hospital was somewhat less nerve wracking since the hospital lobby where you wait in line is expansive with soaring high ceilings (we're talking 50-70 feet high) and the test itself takes place in an outdoor tent. Still the lines at Bellevue can be long and while getting tested there is usually about a 1 hour process, getting tested at this Crown Heights site was actually in total only a 15 minute process. It's also amazing that they can return results in hours because they're a small center and they have their own lab. I was emailed about my (negative!) results and I checked them via an online portal. Many thanks to the staff at this testing site for making this process as quick and painless as possible.

I am giving Brookdale's Emergency Department two stars, and that feels generous. My mother arrived…read moreshort of breath and in a wheelchair, yet there appeared to be no meaningful initial triage at the entrance. We first had to wait in line, and I ultimately had to approach staff, nearly in tears, asking that someone assess her breathing. When we finally reached triage, the response I received was essentially, "Your mother just has to wait." The interaction felt dismissive and lacked the compassion one expects when bringing an elderly, medically complex patient to an emergency department. The physical environment made matters worse. The waiting/triage area was crowded, difficult to navigate with a larger wheelchair, outdated, and visibly unclean. The bathrooms were particularly concerning and lacked basic supplies. Thankfully, our experience changed dramatically once my mother reached the back treatment area. We encountered clinicians who were engaged, compassionate, attentive, and seemed genuinely invested in her care. I am grateful to them. Brookdale desperately needs to reevaluate the front-end emergency department experience--particularly arrival, triage, cleanliness, accessibility, communication, and compassionate care. Patients and frightened families should feel that care begins when they walk through the door, not hours later when they finally reach the treatment area.

Like all the other reviews, this hospital is one of the worst. Also random stuff happened to me during my stay like a priest who wanted to pray with me, which is absurd. I tried to dismiss him and he wouldn't listen. Then another nurse who called herself nurse Lee kneed my neck and beat me up, leaving me with lots of bruises all over my body. The beatings led to a bloodbath with some nurses scratched and bleeding and my iPhone was drenched in blood. It was horrible. They also gave me peaches in every meal with a post it saying I'm allergic to peaches. How dare they. Also they took me to the radiology room and I was knocked out unconscious and was put out. I woke up to myself on the CAT scan machine which they did not let me know what they were doing to me. I felt like I was in a coma. Also I don't know what IV fluid injections they inject in me because I did not feel well afterwards. Now I'm traumatized to go to any hospital. I cannot believe this is how professional this hospital can be.
