But you don't go there for the laughs, although laughter is a tonic. Advice is freely given here and they are usually spot-on. Just recently I bought some plants there for a pebbled area and, well advised as usual, came away with some gorgeous colour, hopefully for years to come. It is close to me and I can always pop over for a single plant or container or a ball of garden twine. Maybe I am going just for that laugh! The well stocked centre is run by the COPE Foundation which provides a comprehensive range of services for 1600 children and adults with an intellectual disability.

It sells glassware, candles, curtains, electrical items and bedding and much more. Needed a replacement kettle and picked up a Swiss one there, also some potpourri (from a large selection, much larger then Debenhams and much more reasonably priced). Didn't expect to see large size rugs there but they had some and had started to take a poke through when one of the staff told me that some 800 were due in the morning. So I thanked him for the helpful info and decided to wait as that large consignment seemed very promising indeed.

B & Q…read more I didn't get much in B & Q (Mahon) today, except confused. Not really a DIY man - the choices are staggering, most of them foreign territory to me. Picked up a few small well known items and headed for the check-out. Stumbled across one of the Express ones. Hesitated. A friendly staff member is over without delay and makes sure we can work the system. It is really quite easy and soon we are on our way, getting a cheery goodbye from the B & Q girl. Another satisfied customer.

There are all kinds of antique-style home furnishings here, including an old-fashioned cookbook stand, old fashioned-toys and heaps of lace and linen. Upstairs is the bedroom department and it's like walking around a Victorian master bedroom. Fabulous.
