The dentist we go to is known to us simply as 'George' which gives an indication of how relaxed and friendly the whole set up is. I'm not sure where George is from, he has a lovely thick European accent, but I do know that he is a lovely guy who manages to put even my nervous 9 year old at ease. I'm not the happiest of dental patients either but I don't dread going to see George the way I have dreaded dental appointment in the past. I've had both essential treatment and cosmetic work done and was extremely satisfied with both. I had to get a root canal done recently which wasn't pleasant and I also got George to whiten my teeth and both turned out really well. The reception staff and dental nurses are all lovely too, just friendly and welcoming which is great for putting patients at ease. I'm a bit puzzled by how the while NHS/private dental treatment thing works these days and whether or not there is a waiting list, but if you don't have a regular dentist, give this surgery a try before you try any others.

I recently had to attend the dentist as an emergency as I managed to loose a crown and break the tooth. I got an appointment the next day and had the remaining tooth painlessly extracted. I think that in this day and age of waiting times this is to be commended. All the staff are pleasant and friendly and NHS patients are accepted. Wether it is for that six monthly or emergency visit it can be a more painless experience at Castlebawn. (In my case if I hadn't been stealing a sneaky matchmaker I could have avoided that emergency appointment !).

I felt it is important to inform others of my experience here. A part of my tooth had sheared off,…read moreleaving my tooth thinner than normal and I booked an emergency appointment to have some filler put in to thicken the tooth. The dentist called John-Joe Hartigan was appointed to manage my situation. I told him that the sole reason for me coming to the dentist was to get my emergency tooth repair fixed. The first appointment I had xrays done and I was informed four times by reception that I will have my emergency tooth repair fixed on the next appointment. John also told me once that I will be getting my tooth repaired on the next appointment. Shortly after, I received an email detailing a dental plan for other work that could be done aswell. The plan had me down for getting a general teeth clean on the second appointment and the entire dental plan did not list my emergency to be dealt with at all. I phoned reception and she said that John had accidentally left out the tooth repair and that I will be getting it fixed on the second appointment as I was told before. Later, I arrived for my second appointment and John told me that I was getting a general dental teeth clean today. I questioned him as to why my emergency tooth repair was not getting fixed and he said we can do that another time. John knew that I was only there to get my emergency tooth repair completed and it seems that he wanted to get as much money out of me as possible before he considered fixing my emergency. I would strongly advise others to avoid getting dental work done with John-Joe Hartigan.

A newcomer to Belfast, I had not yet set up any…read moredental or health care, and as luck would have it I bit into a sandwich and broke my front left tooth crown (a 2K one from previous reconstructive dental work). And this happened on a Saturday holiday weekend. I searched the Internet and began calling dentists in the city, and after the fifth call someone at gentle dental actually answered the phone: by Tuesday morning my tooth was fully repaired. The receptionist, office manager, and dentist were all extremely accommodating. The initial setup as a new patient was very thorough, but without being impersonal and curt. I felt like I got to know the staff a little bit, they got to know me, and when I thought it might be a little over personal, I was in the dentist chair and it was strictly business: full exam, good discussion about my options, and although I thought the best thing to do was to spend the extra money and get a full replacement, they recommended otherwise (excellent advice in hindsight). Thank you for such great service, I'll be a permanent customer from now on.

Their service is of the highest quality, the friendliness of all staff from the receptionists,dental nurses to the dentists themselves is always reassuring. Being a "nervous patient" I probably havent been the easiest patient on occcassions-however,Parks understands and sympathizes with this and do all they can to put you at your ease. The enviroment of the dental surgery itself is also comforting,designed and decorated to a very high and modern standard - making it a pleasant, non clinical enviroment to be in. The practice is in a modern, custom build building with a fair sized car park outside. The reception is just to the right as you walk in the door and is staffed by a friendly team. They have a downstairs reception area with comfortable seating and magazines, and an upstairs member's area with seating, magazines, tea, coffee, water biscuits and TV. Today was my first appointment and I'm admittedly not a fan of the dentist, but they put me at ease immediately and my appointment went smoothly and the dentist was very friendly and informative. Definitely recommend this practice!

Hands up who had a 'bad experience' of dentists when they were younger? Bad? I became a grown up safe in the knowledge that I'd rather sever a limb than allow a mad, unsympathetic, ham-fisted dentist near my pearly whites. This strategy worked for some time, then: disaster a root canal needing some serious and very urgent attention. Cue Peter Johnston, stage left. What can I say? Courteous, reassuring, empathetic, kind. What else? Oh yes, the really important bit: dextrous, light-handed, talented and pain-free treatment followed and that was that. I now have a dentist, I go , I get a check-up, I don't need sedated. As good as they get!

My problem was not so much pain but the control in the chair because of a traumatic incident at 7years when I was held down in a dentist for treatment, what a crazy world we lived in. And then came Peter Johnston who in one session turned that experience into a fading memory. I now have no fear of going to the dentist and I can endure root canal without pain through local with zero stress. He was completely non-understanding and called me "irrational" and in need of "growing up". He then told me to "get over it". He caused such a state of panic that I had to be given nitrous oxide and was belittled when I suffered from a severe panic attack due to his yelling. He then believed it was acceptable for him to yell at me, belittle me, and belittle my mothers parenting. Both my mother and I left the room in tears and nearly fainted. I will never let him "treat" me EVER again, no patient should ever be treated in any manner even CLOSE to how he treated me and he should not be in his chosen line of work given his anger issues. However, I have previously been treated by a female - in the same dentistry - who was extremely understanding which lead to my full co-operation. I do not wish to condemn all the dentists that work here, but Gregg treated my family member and I inhumanely. I changed my dentist the next day and I now suffer from a severe phobia after this experience.

Of all the dentists in the area I have found this to be one of the better ones. I had phoned at 1pm and was seen and procedure completed before 4pm! Now that's really fast on my past experience of dentists. The actual practice is in the Kennedy centre upstairs and is very new, clean and modern, the dentist was pleasant, informative and performed the procedure painlessly and I mean painlessly! I would and will be recommending this dentist to anyone! Really good job!
