We were so amazed by the staff, restaurant, and the hotel itself that we decided to stay. The hotel is small but you would never know by the walking into the lobby. Every detail of the hotel itself is impeccable. It is very modern without feeling cold. It is also highly functional--unlike many Europen hotels, our room has space for a family of four Americans and all of our stuff. We have a large bathroom with a tub, decorative treatments including lighting and art work, a large flatscreen tv, in room wifi (included) and more. Our lunch amazed us all. My daughter and I each had fish (char and trout) from Moon Lake which is only a few hundred yards away. The fish tasted like fresh caught lake fish should. It was perfectly prepared with a tasty crust. The sides (spinach and rice for me, potatoes for her) were so flavorful. The special chicken over linguine was similarly perfect. My wife's gnocchi was flavorfull but not so rich that it could not be finished. The prices ranged from inexpensive for the gnocchi to very reasonable (17 euro?) for the three course chicken meal. Service was super attentive. The hotel is set in the center of a small town. It is surrounded on all sides by mountains and tall hills. The lake is large--it took us about 40 minutes to drive around it. There are boats if sailing or water skiing are your thing (or I think that's what a brochure or sign said.)The village is clean and picturesque. Churches, shops, cafes, bars and ice cream shops surround the hotel and seemed busy. I'd like to come back here someday. It will be on my list ahead of Saltzburg. And the hotel now ranks among my family's favorite, which is a compliment considering my wife works for a fantastic hotel chain and gets to stay for free at their high end properties across the U.S. And Europe. We had to pay for this hotel, but it is totally worth it.

This was my favorite stint during our trip just because of this town. It is the quintessential European village on the outskirts of Salzburg. This Hotel really takes things to another level. the rooms are two story suites with a giant spiral staircase connecting the two rooms. My room overlooked the center courtyard which was beautiful. The restaurants on site are also excellent. The one night they set up a table out on the lawn and served us a six course dinner. It was amazing! The only thing that i was not impressed with was the fact that not all of the rooms are air conditioned. Our stay was at the ind of July and it was in the high eighties and my room was an oven at night. The bedroom was located upstairs and kept in the heat form the day. I asked at the front desk if they had a fan and they gave me the only fan in the whole hotel which was at the front desk with out hesitation. Very thoughtful. I can't wait to take my wife here when we make it to Europe!!

We had a deeply disturbing experience at this restaurant today. When she asked to clear my plate, I said I was still eating. I had placed my spoon and fork together on the right side of the plate, and instead of simply accepting my response, she grabbed my utensils, moved the fork to the left and the spoon to the right, and gave unsolicited, condescending advice about how they should be placed "if I was still eating." It was intrusive and humiliating. Then, as if that wasn't enough, she sent her coworker to ask again if I was done eating--clearly trying to rush us out. Her attitude from the start was cold and dismissive. When I asked for a recommendation between two dishes, she snapped, "Both are delicious," with an irritated expression, as if my question was a waste of her time. I left in tears and wished we had chosen other restaurants to dine in. Later at the lake, I spoke with two other Asian families and shared what happened. They were so disturbed, they said they wouldn't eat there either. I had never felt discriminated and humiliated until today. Hope she would not do this to other customers.

Flavorful and not to heavy the pike grilled filet came with perfectly cooked vegetables and hearty potatos. It was four of us and everyone was pleased with their dishes and soup. Affordable compared to some other restaurants in the area. Great place to eat, you won't regret it!

The staff is very friendly. I am deducting a star because inside is only smoking. If it had been raining and the courtyard would have been closed, I would have never got to taste their great food because of the only smoking inside. They have a nice private beach across the street. You have to get there before noon on hot days if you want to get a spot. Because the beach area is so small, you barely have an arms length to your neighbor which makes smoking neighbors very bothersome. They may want to consider banning smoking there.

Since it's owned by somebody, they decreed that motorboats aren't allowed out on this picturesque lake, since it'd be too noisy. Good for them! It's a wonderful view of this alpine lake, with the Alps behind it. We stopped off here in a caravan of motor coaches, where we had a chance to use their free restrooms. The staff seemed like they'd seen it a million times before, and since you got ushered through the gift shop at the exit, I can see why they're so permissive of all these tourists using their loo. The gift shop reminded me of the kinda schmaltz you see in Cracker Barrel gift shops back home. Things like little games, coffee cups with your name on it, picture books about the area- that kinda stuff. Since we were like the 5th tour bus that pulled in, there was a crazy long line of tourists waiting to use the can, so I ran across the street and paid fifty euro cents at the gas station.
