Great library just outside the town centre in Southend. Set over several floors it has large…read morefiction and reference sections plus a separate area where you can use computers and the internet. There is also an children's area with books and decorations. It never seems to be very busy so it is nice and quiet and pleasant to browse for books to read in there. They also have DVDs, videos and CDs for loan as well as a quite large comic book/grahic novel section. The staff are helpful. Also there are often displays of art by local artists, which adds interest.

Never have any trouble getting through on the phone and staff always so helpful. Recently I have had to renew my books a lot over the phone because of commitments to a relative with health problems and it never seems any trouble to the staff to do so. Fantastic choice of books and even now though my son is an adult, he loves coming with me to the library.

There is also a DVD rental service which stocks a few of the latest titles. The children's section is made interesting by there being brightly coloured bean bags and chairs for the kids to sit on when you browse the rest of the library. The staff are really helpful, and will help you yo order in books from other Essex libraries if they do not have it in stock. Old books are often for sale in the entrance so it is well worth a visit!

a small and quaint library located along the london road…read more staff are very friendly and helpful, attending to you needs and queries with no bother. the children's area is very small, but this is understandable because of the size of the library itself. the do have a lovely patio area out the back with benches where you can relax with a good book on better days, which is a really nice feature. some computrs with internet access too, and good seating areas.
