One local recommended exit 153 for lunch and right next-door was potato world. We drove about 20 minutes down the highway. Once inside potato world, you could pay to see the museum, which is $6 Kadence did you preheat the oven OK per person some are cheaper than others depending if you are a senior or a child under 12. We did not have time for the museum, but we wanted to get some french fries and try some Canadian poutine and a couple other items from their menu. My husband opted for The potato world poutine I tried a little bit of it and really enjoyed it. My husband was elated that he tried poutine in Canada versus somewhere in the states. One of the highlights while visiting potato world was experiencing my first french fry charcuterie board. As that may seem simple to some, I'd have to say it really delivered. You choose between two seasoned french fries and you get six sauces. We opted for the curly fries and the Parmesan and herb fries. The Parmesan and herb fries were really tasty. I couldn't tell you what the sauces were because I didn't have a menu in front of me, but they were all pretty good. I don't think I had one sauce that I didn't like. Then I sampled a strawberry smoothie was more like a strawberry milkshake with potato flakes. It was something different, but it was actually pretty good. Lastly, we opted for the chocolate potato cake. It's basically a chocolate cake with potato flakes and it was really good. The icing really complemented it. It wasn't overly sweet. It was just the perfect sweetness for myself. Our waitress was so patient and kind with us. She taught us how to say poutine correctly. Pricing was on point I think for all of the items it was $54. For those reading this today , July 12 is national french fry day and they are having an event there on July 12, 2025. Check out their social media pages where it describes what they have in store for the day it looks pretty fun.

I was a little too bummed out on my return trip home, (not happy leaving the maritimes so soon), to check out the museum and history aspect of this attraction, but it did look interesting. I had no ideal that New Brunswick had such a history of potato farming! I had heard about Prince Edward Island being known for the red soil and potatoes but not this story. Near this spot is a large McCains French fry facility, visible on your drive in, which is the multi-national frozen food manufacturer which started in this community. The structure housing the museum is all wood and gorgeous inside, similar to St. Jacobs market. Very cozy and warm, literally because there was a nice fireplace which I sat near when I had my lunch. The restaurant is full service and well staffed. I didn't wait long for my server to take my order and my food was on the table in very little time. Perfect for a stopover from a road trip. The prices are very reasonable here. I ordered a bacon and broccoli quiche along with their potato soup. Their menu is interesting with plenty of French fry choices, but since I love potato soup and my server mentioned it, I ordered that instead. Everything was delicious! I even ordered the potato-German-chocolate cake which was awesome as well. If I knew about this spot before, I would have stopped and had a meal for sure! Highly recommended and worth a quick stop to check out the French fry capital of the world!
