This charity poker room is open from Wed through Saturdays. On Wed through Fri, it has holdem tournaments that are scheduled to start at 7pm but usually start by 7:10 or 7:15. The Wed and Fri tournaments offer re-buys and as a result, some players keep going all in until they get traction. While the entry fees are affordable at $10 to $20 on those nights, I've seen some players invest $200 in one game including re-buys. If you find that hard to compete with, you might want to enter a Thursday night tournament when you can only enter once for $30. They also have a $100 to $150 holdem tournament around 6 pm on the last Saturday of each month.
Most all players are very nice as are all the dealers. Some dealers are rookies so you have to be patient. It is like your friendly home game when it comes to atmosphere, the manager's dog roams around for you to pet, free bottled water and popcorn, free pizza around 9 pm on Thursday nights (not other nights as action is too slow). As is true more and more, don't under estimate the players. If you want 100% poker etiquette followed, you ought to go downtown.
They also have a big Pot Limit Omaha game on Thursdays where a lot of regulars start showing up around 5:30 to 6 PM. The max buy in is $200, but some bring $1,000 to $2,000 to continue buying in until their game gets traction. After a couple hours, there will most always be a couple players with $1,000 to $2,500 in front of them.
The cash Hold-em games are not big on Wed Thurs and Fri. I have not visited on a Saturday. read more
