I basically had to harass my property manager for one dehumidifier for our serious mold issues and was then told by the property owner to use "elbow grease" to resolve it. After an insurance adjuster, a plumber, and a contractor visited the property, the contractor (right in front of me) ripped off a piece of the rotten subfloor and said he could push his fingers through the wood. There was no exterior wall insulation, letting in wind and the elements regularly. In the 18 months I lived at the rental, I saw maybe two employees. I even visited their Arden office and not a single employee was present. My property manager refused to refund me the money for the total days my door was unable to even shut fully following a break in, even after I sent in the police report. They raised my rent by $30 a month after I had already reported the mold issues. If you're a renter in Asheville or NC, stay far away from this company and go for a bigger property management group. I've never seen this amount of dysfunction from a renter in my life.

I don't know a single person who rents from this "company" that has anything positive to say. Every time you get a hold of her she sounds drunk or like she just woke up, and then her solution to every electrical or plumbing problem is to send her college age son to fix. My favorite memory of Denise is when I told her I would have to abandon the property as it poured water through the ceiling inside after the hurricane and she told me to "leave the fridge open" so there wouldn't be a smell. What should have been a straightforward roof repair has turned into a three-month-long nightmare that has cost me thousands of dollars out of pocket money I should never have had to spend in the first place. Three months. Ninety-plus days. And I still have holes in my roof, holes in my deck, and holes in my ceiling. Every time it rains, I hold my breath. The water damage alone is staggering, and the longer this drags on, the worse -- and more expensive -- it gets. I am watching my home deteriorate in real time while this HOA does absolutely nothing. And getting anyone on the phone? Forget it. I have called the office repeatedly and cannot get a single human being to pick up. No callbacks. No follow-up. No accountability whatsoever. It is as if they have made a deliberate choice to ignore homeowners the moment an actual problem arises. I pay my HOA dues faithfully every month. In return, I am entitled to timely maintenance and basic communication neither of which this association has been able to provide. This is a serious breach of their obligations, and at this point I am exploring every legal option available to me. If you are considering purchasing a home in this community, run. This HOA will take your money and leave you living with holes in your ceiling.

One year ago…read moreI wanted a second home in the Asheville area, and I had been looking, off and on, for 2 years. When I switched to Mary for my agent, I quickly found a home that met my needs and am happily living there today. Mary Love listened to what I wanted and targeted our search toward just those types of properties in my price range. We looked at several homes together, and when we found the one that was right, she and her team handled the negotiations, the arrangements for inspections, and the closing details very well. Since buying, she has provided me with referrals for service people, whenever I request it; as an example, I just saved 50% on my homeowner's insurance using her insurance agency recommendation. I would recommend Mary Love to others, especially those wanting a "green" home or real estate, and I would use her services as a real estate agent again.
