He immediately made me feel at ease as he listened attentively. Before my appointment, he went over everything on the phone and ensured that he had all the necessary documents before arriving at his office. Scott's professionalism and knowledge of taxes made me feel comfortable and trustworthy. I almost immediately gained his confidence. He completed my taxes in a reasonable amount of time, and I'm definitely going to use Modern Taxes again in the future.

I realize Scott has many five-star reviews...the most recent being from 2023...I don't know if…read moresomething has happened in the past few years, or if I just got the 'one bad apple' experience with him, but let me say, this experience has been super crappy. Scott was quick to set up one informational phone call, and with some prodding, getting back with a quote for taxes toward the end of 2025. He was, BTW, the only accountant from whom I obtained a quote who asked me to send documents via email, whereas everyone else had me send my documents via secure portal. When I wanted to meet in-person, we set an appt for late December, which we had to change to video (at my request b/c of family illness), and then, we were unable to do the video appt b/c his computer 'crashed.' So, another phone call...not great, especially when there were always sound issues, and I really wanted to meet with the person (or at least tele-meet) whomever was going to have their fingers in my pennies, but another phone call was to suffice. He was very informative and helpful, and we had a plan moving forward. I offered to pay for his time, which he said he would recoup later, when he did my taxes. By early Jan 2026, it was clear his firm was not going to do my company's bookkeeping (multiple emails confirm this point) b/c my current bank does not allow for third-party access, and I was to research my own payroll, as his company does not provide that service. However, there are multiple emails in Dec 2025 and Jan 2026 between us where 'follow up in spring 2026' is mentioned, where I say I want to utilize his services for taxes, and where he says his company would be 'happy to help' with my taxes. Fast forward to the third week in March 2026, I realize I haven't heard anything from him....I send up the smoke signal via email, and hear back today that 'business taxes were due last week' and that 'it's too late' for his firm to accept new clients. What the actual f*ck, dude? Even after sending previous emails, as above, he writes back they were to start bookkeeping for me in the spring (never true) and that I never followed up with sending him a final P & L statement (he never asked, in our Dec 2025 phone call or in any Dec 2025/Jan 2026 emails). He also said they can't hold spots for new clients from Jan to March. Of course, that makes sense...but not in light of our prior phone and email communications. He could've sent me an email, saying "I need your final P & L," if that's all he was waiting on...news flash--the phone and email work two ways. But, he never actually asked me for that document, or made clear he needed a different version from what I sent. Hard pass on any sort of recommendation, and I certainly won't ever consider using his services in the future. Honesty and integrity seem questionable, at least in this case.

But when you need your taxes done, and done with your best interests in a professional and expeditions manner, Eileen is your gal. I was formerly with a CPA for over 40 years. He became nonresponsive, consistently late, and unbelievably unorganized. It got worse thru the years and I should of left at least 10 years earlier but I stayed. I had been there so long, I figured he knew me, knew my tax history, starting over would be a pain, etc. etc. It finally became too much, too late, I had enough. For the first time in years, I found myself looking for someone to assist with my taxes. I tried various CPA's, and obtaining an appointment was like pulling teeth. I came across Eileen, probably thru YELP, and began to do a bit of research about her. She was not a CPA. Would I be missing tax benefits if I didn't see a CPA? All in all, reviews for Eileen were stellar and I was losing patience with attempted appointment settings for CPA's hence, I contacted Eileen's office and set up a consultation. No nonsense here as she quickly told me what I can do, what I can't, what makes sense, and what in the world was this thing I called record keeping??? I didn't agree with none of it. In fact, I pretty much disagreed with everything she said. In order to get back on track, Eileen suggested I do A, B, C, and don't forget E, F, and G. She was patient, listened to my complaints, my disagreements, and my overall rational but calmly explained how and what needed to be done and most importantly, why. And yes, it was going to cost me. But it was honest, I felt good, and down deep, I knew I was in good hands. I could trust her and felt she not only knew what she was doing but had my best interests in mind. She explained strategies that would lessen financial tax burdens, what records I needed to maintain, how to effectively organize them, and what I needed to present to her so she could provide the best results possible. In other words, without me doing what I needed to do, how could she? I have grown possess a very healthy respect for Eileen and her overall demeanor and expertise. I have been with her for three years and fully intend to continue. I will still argue with her here and there but to me, she is a consummate professional that will get you back on track and make sure your taxes are in excellent shape. And she will tell you the truth. She is fair, price conscious, and exceptionally good at what she does. In addition, she has always made herself available whenever I had a financial question, tax question, or even seeking a referral for folks engaged in a variety of services. If you need a tax professional to represent your best interests, Eileen is the expert you are seeking. I only wish I had found her years ago. I was younger, stronger, and might of won an argument...
