I emailed him with my questions and he answered within 15 minutes! We had several more email exchanges and he was so helpful and kind. I then needed to make an appointment immediately and his staff got us in within two days. Dr. Tarquinio spent two hours with us! He is incredibly knowledgeable, kind, helpful and he really listens. We brainstormed about options for my daughter and discussed the latest research in Rett Syndrome treatment. His office staff are wonderful and helpful. The office is calm, peaceful and geared for our special needs children. It is the first medical office my daughter has been to in her 37 years where she wasn't stressed and agitated. I highly recommend Dr. Tarquinio to all families who have a Rett Syndrome child or a child with neurological issues. He is truly the best!

From the owner: At the Center for Rare Neurological Diseases (CRND), we provide the medical home for you and your…read morefamily. Our first visit ranges from 2-3 hours, most of which time is spent with the owner, a physician with expertise in a number of rare neurological diseases. During this time, we will assess your needs, with respect to: * Immediate medical care * 11 areas commonly affected in rare neurological disorders * Recommendations for changes or for additional subspecialist consultation * Supportive management * Therapy, school resources, anticipatory guidance, and planning for the future * Research studies, either at the center or elsewhere. Dr Tarquinio has over a decade of experience both diagnosing and caring for individuals with rare diseases, and understands the unique needs of these individuals. Mainstream medical care does not allow for an adequate assessment of people with rare diseases. Care is typically fragmented, families feel as if they have no "medical home". We are here to help.

Asad Mehdi - Proof that our appointment was 7 minutes. (scheduled for 20, billed for 30.)

I've been seeing Dr. Mehdi for about a year after deciding to seek care outside the VA system. As a…read moreveteran, I needed a more modern, individualized approach and medications/treatments the VA doesn't typically prescribe. From day one, Dr. Mehdi's expertise, compassion, and availability have been outstanding. His team/staff are top-notch--always prompt in answering calls and emails, and genuinely committed to my well-being. Dr. Mehdi is easy to talk to, listens carefully, and regularly updates my treatment plan. If you're looking for a caring, forward-thinking psychiatrist, I highly recommend Dr. Mehdi and his practice.

Pro: I really liked the NP I was seeing. (5 stars). Con: A…read moreprovider is only as good as their support staff (2 stars) Before I get to the support staff, let's talk about the doctor. I was a patient for 3.5+ years before I spoke to him. Our first appointment was scheduled for 20 and billed for 30 minutes. Actual length? 7 minutes. He called me "my dear" several times which I think was an attempt to build rapport, but it landed somewhere between fake and lecherous. (2 stars for him) Back to the support staff, all offshore except the office manager. There is often a language barrier, like when the billing department called and asked to speak to "Doe Jane" instead of "Jane Doe" and referenced my recent visit with "Smith Mary." I usually need to call twice before someone answers the phone, and need to leave several messages before the provider gets them. On 2 occasions, I had a conversation with the NP where I mentioned trying to reach her several times and she said she never got a message until that day. Another time, the receptionist called and said, "[NP] wants me to tell you that she had an emergency and left early. She won't be able to call you today, but she will call you tomorrow." The provider hadn't been informed that I was looking for her. And didn't call back until I had left 2 more messages and spent 2 weeks thinking that she was purposely avoiding my calls. Another time, I left 2 messages for and emailed the office manager over the course of a week. When I called the next week and said I thought there was insurance fraud happening, she called me back immediately. Billing practices were explained in different incorrect ways by the billing department and then the office manager, both of which led me to believe there was insurance fraud happening. When I finally spoke to the NP, she explained it in 30 seconds and it made sense. Yes, the NP is good, but she doesn't operate alone. I stuck with her for nearly 4 years, but I finally got fed up with everyone around her.
