Yikes...more like Hoarders Thrift Store. This place is barely shoppable, as in you can hardly find…read morea place to squeeze between the mounds of junk. The prices are way over the top, regardless of whether this were a nicely merchandised and clean shop, versus the filthy heap of junk that it is. The place reeks of cigarette smoke and I couldn't wait to get out and get a lungful of fresh air. There were a few pieces that were cool but were priced above any thrift margin. Once again, if they were a tended vintage shop I would understand the markup, but this is like a nightmare attic scenario.

I saw some of the reviews below and was troubled by the accusation that the owner is racist. I…read morecould be wrong, but have never experienced such attitudes from him. I am, myself, an Arab American and he always treats me well. That said, some of the "quirks" of his personality COULD understandably lead people to leave with a bad impression. Let me explain. The first time I went approached his store, the door was closed and locked. But the owner was inside and saw us outside the door. He opened and asked if we (my mom and I) had an appointment. I said no and he told me he only opens for people with appointments. His voice was a gruff and I was initially turned off. I started to leave and he interjected and asked if I wanted to make an appointment. My first instinct was to say no. But at the last moment I relented and said yes instead. A slight grin crept up his face and he said he had an appointment for right then. At that point he opened the door and let us in. I think he likes to play the curmudgeon sometimes. But after that first experience, he was always warm and friendly. He even remembered at later visits that I had been in before. As for the assertion that he was racist, particularly towards people of Asian descent, I just have not seen that from him. Quite the contrary, I was in the shop once with a friend from Thailand who lives here in Albuquerque. The owner greeted us both with a friendly hello and let us in. He even pointed out some antiques from SE Asia for my friend to see. He was friendly and conversational with my friend as they discussed the origin and cultural history of the items. Obviously, I haven't seen the owner's interactions with every customer. And I wouldn't want to support a business owned by someone who discriminates or acts hatefully. So I want to be clear - I could be wrong. I just wonder if perhaps he was doing his "curmudgeon act" and it was misinterpreted. I'll be back to shop until I see something more definitive than a few vague yelp reviews. Accusing someone of racism is no small allegation and I hope the people who've made it here are absolutely certain that that is what they experienced and not a older person who sometimes likes to play the grumpy old man.

We are antique hounds, have lived in ABQ for over a decade and just stumbled on this store last weekend. Please go visit this store immediately. The owner is a treasure and has apparently been selling out of this space for over 20 years. He has a wealth of stories for all of the items he has packed into the several large rooms in his store. Very authentic, with an emphasis on traditional Mexican arts. Loved the entire experience... and will definitely not wait another ten years to come back.

Good grief…read more ************** If the place is ever open during business hours, and I therefore get to go inside it rather than gazing longingly thru the window, I'll perhaps up the stars. After all, it looks awesome from the outside. But three times over the same long weekend I tried to come here, and three times, though we were well inside of business hourlace was locked up tight. On the last of those occasions we arrived an hour before close, and decided to call the number posted by the door this time. "Sorry, I just left a few minutes ago," she told my husband. Seriously?? I don't even see the point of not staying the last hour. Admittedly, I'm not a business owner, but that doesn't seem to be a sound business practice.

I am happy with my purchase. I'm upgrading from one star to three. It could have been a four or five with communication, if it couldn't have been delivered within the initial five day window. I am hoping to update this review with a more positive one. We will see. I put a beautiful piece on layaway and paid the balance in full over a week ago. The owner offered to deliver the piece when I told her we were going to have to rent a uhaul truck to pick it up. I was happy at the prospect of giving my money to a small business owner as opposed to a national company. It has been over a week, no phone call, and no delivery. When I called her number, she answered with "Hello?", which I thought odd. Then when I asked about the delivery, she said she had been sick and promised to deliver the piece by TODAY. Of course, I don't have the $500 piece of furniture I PAID for, and I am going to demand a refund tomorrow. This lady doesn't know anything about good business or how to treat a customer. How she handles herself tomorrow will determine whether or not this review changes.
