"Van Gogh's Ear", a public art sculpture by Elmgreen & Dragset, is in place at 30 Rockefeller…read morePlaza, right across the street from the entrance to Sak's 5th Ave. The sculpture, by the same duo that brought us the Prada Marfa Store in the middle of the Texas desert, is a tribute to the ready-made style of Marcel Duchamp. The sculpture is a 30 foot tall swimming pool, taken out of its normal context and displayed in its side with a diving board built in at the top. One of my favorite elements are the working lights on the inside left and right of the pool sculpture. Being that it's out of context - a recreational object in the middle of a commercial center - it creates a sense of longing and desire for recreation over industry and gives you an off-kilter feeling (why am I going to work when I could be swimming!). Overall a great piece of colorful public art at placed I a great spot for the perfect season. The piece is on display from April 13th though June 3rd, 2016. Catch it while you can!

The Oculus is a beautiful representation of the New York spirit. It is a shopping center, an…read morearchitectural landmark, a transport hub, and a historic piece honoring NYC. It's a part of New York as much as Grand Terminal or Penn Station is. Oculus gets busy on a daily basis because of all the things I mentioned above. The shops in the Oculus are nice and tend to be on the higher end of a price range. You have a variety of selections from Apple Store to luxury brands. The service at any store is pretty representative of what the Oculus aspires to be; excellence. It's beautiful and bright and at its core, a beacon of hope.

Came to Battery Park to catch the ferry and saw The Sphere, didn't immediately realize this sphere…read morewas the same one that was originally at The World Trade Center. After reading and researching the history of The Sphere it was very touching to realize that it survived the 9/11 attacks with only some dents and holes in it. Glad they were able to salvage it and re-purpose it as a memorial from the attacks. Purpose of the memorial is to show " as an icon of hope and the indestructible spirit of this country". Glad I was able to come by and view this, means a lot to NYC so come on by to see it.

The Sphere was actually a piece of art which held ground at the World Trade Center. After the buildings fell on 911 the discovered it in the rubble. It has extensive damage and busted exterior which when viewed can really tell how impacted it was. Taken from the rubble it now resides here as a beacon of hope, peace, and a reminder of that day.

But I do know a little history about this theater, I was born in Chicago, Illinois and what I know about this Movie Palace is the designers. This theater was designed by Chicago's Architects Cornelius Rapp and George Rapp, they are known for. Their designs for movie palaces, in the United States. Architects Rapp and Rapp designed the Balaban and Katz Chicago Theater opened up on October 26, 1921. Rapp and Rapp designed the Lowe's Paradise Theater in New Jersey. This movie palace of the 1920's era, undergoing restoration as we speak. I know that it's going to look more beautiful, once The restoration is complete and restored to it's natural glamor look.

I've gone to Loew's for the Jersey Journal's 150th anniversary celebration during which the movie 'His Girl Friday' was screened and there was an organ mini-concert. I also saw Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile at Loew's back in November. I recommend checking it out for the programming, but also to see some beautiful architecture inside. Plus, for the most part, the events are very affordable. It's a unique experience.

You basically just call 2 days in advance to book and you get to play tennis or pickleball for free. The courts and super nice and well organized. We also walked around the park before where there is a nice fountain and sometimes a theme park with food available. Food is a bit overpriced but it's still cool to have it available in the area. Came here twice to attend a liquor and winery event and a Halloween event at the Harborside…read moreFinancial Center. It is very close to the Exchange Place on the Path train. The place inside is very business like with lots of space to hold a lot of vendors with their tables and tents. All the way to the back of the place, they have human sized chess and board games with a lot of tables and chairs to sit and relax. Bathrooms are clean and nice. For some reason I don't know why the women's bathroom has 1 urinal, which is supposed to be in the men's bathroom. So I found that weird. There's a lot of security and they guard the bathrooms and release the rope when you want to go.

They had opened for the July 4th festivities and when over, they tried to close the doors and people were crushed up against the doorway, I nearly twisted an ankle because people didn't stop pushing, luckily my little one was on my shoulders and didn't get pushed. Next time they are open for the July 4th fireworks, they need to stop trying to close it while people are pushing through and just let people get to the light rail from the water walkway.

Shoutout to the Brooklyn bridge for being one of my favorite bridges to drive over. I can't really…read morerecall a single time I've been stuck in traffic when entering the city from bk via the Brooklyn Bridge, though I've really only used it late in the evenings. You can great views from both sides and while the city's congestion pricing is annoying for native New Yorkers like myself, the at least the bridge is free both ways (hey, at least for now!). Elite Tip: Heading uptown past the 60s? Avoid tolls and congestion pricing by taking the Brooklyn bridge to FDR North and get off at your appropriate exit (as long as it's after the 60th st boundary).
