Teachers and staff are all excellent, really care about what they do. There's a new headmaster this year (2007), he's a very positive influence on everyone (from at least the perspective of this parent!). Graduates go to top universities nationwide, plenty of National Merit Semifinalists and student-athletes. School is one of the most expensive private schools in Mobile, but you definitely get what you pay for here. Some kids live up to 40 miles away but go to SPS because the quality of education is *that* good (God knows, especially compared to the public schools in the area!). Very much a community feel at this school. Parents really reach out to other St. Paul's families. Has a reputation as an "elite" school in Mobile (along with UMS), but not all parents are rich (plenty of us aren't even close to it)--yet all are part of the St. Paul's "family," regardless of socioeconomic level (contrary to what one might believe). New families are welcomed into the St. Paul's family with open arms. SPS families "do" for one another. Yes, blazers are worn for chapel for the older (high school) kids, but it's not daily. (Maybe the dress code has changed since reviewer Julia W. was there?) They don't wear knee-high socks any more, either. Anyway, all Mobile students wear uniforms (in both public and private/parochial schools). Maybe I'm biased, but at least the SPS uniforms look better than the other schools' uniforms! My (much younger) brothers went to school there from elementary school through graduation, and were/are extremely happy with the education they received and the overall experience. As a parent, I give it my highest praise and recommendation!

I moved to Mobile in October, and was told I had to pay full price for senior fees, even though I wouldn't be receiving everything the other seniors would be since I arrived later in the school year. They never told me I needed to take the ACT Work keys assessment until the day before I had to go. Same goes with other graduation requirements. There were two Reminds for the class of 2019, but not all seniors were told of this and missed out on a lot of information. Everything was done at the very last minute and gave us no time to adjust our schedules, and this all would have been easily fixed had they only had one remind with all the information on it and a paper handout for the students who do not own any cellphones. There were two graduation practices, and the first was organized alright, but the administrators in charge of the practice were rude and unhelpful with students and where they needed to go, then blamed it on the students. The second was on the day of graduation and took a little over three hours. It was extremely disorganized and my seat was all the way on the other side of the Mitchell Center from where it was originally supposed to be, and when I asked for help finding my seat I received none and had to walk around for a good half hour to find it. Don't get me started on the diploma and yearbook pickup! They told us to pick them both up on the 28th of May but never told us any times to be there. My grandma and I showed up around 1:20pm, and they told us to come again another day because they didn't have them cause we were too late. However, my mom called and was displeased so the lady was rude about it, but gave me my diploma but not my Yearbook, the one I PAID FOR. They told us to come back the day after or that Thursday between 8-10am. Do they not realize that we have work? If students are paying for the yearbook, they should be organized and have a list of how many are receiving them. How are they OUT of yearbooks?? Overall, my experience at this Highschool was extremely dissatisfying and if I could give it no stars at all I would! My rural Highschool in Iowa was more organized than Davidson! When I get older and have children, they won't be attending Davidson if it's still even around. I highly recommend looking for another school for your child if you want them to be happy and healthy. The food they give is terrible and sometimes rotten, and I remember a few times I was given a slice of ham and a small roll for lunch. Most of the teachers are pleasant save a few, but other than that, everything else is terrible! -An Alumni

She received a character award from her school and an award for "best demonstrating Christian values" from her previous class. Hours before orientation, the elementary principal, Ms. Curry, called to say that she was rejected. We were stunned. We attend church every Sunday. My father was a deacon and my grandfather was a preacher. I asked if there was a problem with the classes being too full and was told no. I asked why my daughter had been rejected, and Ms. Curry said that she, "couldn't say". When I pressed the issue, she became agitated and cut me off, saying that she wouldn't tell me. I asked who would tell me and was told Headmaster David. When I asked to speak to him, Ms. Curry scoffed and said he was busy and would remain busy and I should, "try leaving a message with the front desk" When we finally managed to get ahold of the headmaster, he was faltering and unable to give a reason, eventually stating that it was "against policy" to say anything. Email attempts have gone completely ignored and attempts to visit in person are always greeted with a cordial, "he's too busy to see you." Ultimately, we believe that we were not the "mold" of aristocracy that Mobile Christian likes to put forth. I would never recommend this school to anyone. Any school that rejects a qualified six year old seeking a Christian education without reason is clearly not as "Christian" as they claim.
