It was surprisingly busy. There's no seats inside so everyone was getting takeout. Their hours are insane (5:30am to 5:00pm weekdays). Just wow. They do a bunch of baked items including meat pies, fresh baked bread and pastries (cakes, pies, scrolls, croissants, buns, etc.). Oddly, there's a price list along a random wall but not in the display cases. - Special carrot cake ($1.00 AUD) - this was dirt cheap because they were slightly overdone. You get what you pay for! The cake was a bit too dry and the icing wasn't very special at all. - White bun rolls ($2.00 AUD) - all their bread is baked fresh. I spotted a bag of 6 white buns. Nothing particularly mind blowing about them but they were fresh. - Curries scallop pie ($7.00 AUD) - there's two small scallops inside. The curry sauce slowly grew on me the more I ate it. Not bad but nowhere near the level of the pies we've had elsewhere. - Orange and almond cake ($4.00 AUD) - this was good. Tasted like orange, sprinkled with pumpkin seeds and an orange rind. Didn't get much almond flavour. Better than we expected. Long hours and fresh bread. 3.5 stars.

It was cold outside but comfortable inside. We both ordered the same thing - Canadian breakfast w large, freshly squeezed OJ. The serving size was just right for us. The poached eggs were so tasty - did not need salt or pepper, bacon is always good, just the right amount of pancakes and a little jug of maple syrup each to drench those pancakes in! Yum! Safe to say we demolished this in no time and left happy and full :)

The place was enormously busy as there was a local gathering on that had brought a lot of people from out of town and interstate, but despite this the staff was friendly and attentive. The pizza is incredible, and the salads were really good as well. It's a wonderful building, and where the dining certainly isn't the fanciest we felt quite at home sitting in the back on one of the couches having drinks and admiring the old building. If we're ever in the neighborhood again, we'll certainly stop through. It's a good, honest, local cafe restaurant that if it were down the road from my place, I'd be in there for an hour or two every Sunday to have coffee and read the newspaper.
