They have 4 hair stylists all of different levels. The owner of the shop is the head stylist and she is absolutely lovely. The other girls are also lovely and will give you their honest opinion if you decide to go for a change .. something i am too scared to do. ha ha. Their prices are fantastic considering it could cost triple to have a colour and cut elsewhere. They have a forecourt directly outside their shop which you can use as parking. They also sells hair products such as shampoos (which they are using on their clients when washing their hair to promote the product), hair equipment (i.e.GHDs) etc. Their services range from cuts, colours, bridal hair and hair styling. This is a very popular salon. There is nothing they won't do or go out of their way to help you on. This is not just a salonfor woman - men are also catered for here. Highly recommend.

Living locally, I came across this chain of salons that was only a 5 minute walk from my fiancé's place. Usually I would have called much in advance, but I checked Facebook and they had a few 5 star reviews so I forged ahead and checked their website, and they had a deal: 30 pounds for new customers! I called to see if they could fit me in. Luckily one opening at 1PM on a Saturday, guess I'm just lucky! Charlotte greeted me at the front desk and offered me a drink, I opted for some lemon water, which she brought out with some candies on the side! She was sweet, and during the consult she was helpful and listened to exactly what I wanted regarding length, layers and the style I wanted at the end. The hair was was absolutely glorious, and she asked me if I wanted a head massage... UM YES PLEASE! Who ever said no to that question? During the cut, she talked me through each step before doing it, and checking after each step that I was happy! I have never had someone do that before and it was really nice and refreshing! I told her I was going out later in the evening, and she asked how I would like it styled, and I asked her just large waves/curls, with an easy flow. I'm not sure I even knew what I meant, but Charlotte did and delivered! I swear in my almost 30 years of life I have never been so happy with a haircut! I think I found my new hair stylist, but can I just bring her back with me to New York? Pretty please? Charlotte if you are reading this, thank you! I felt gorgeous for the next two days! Wish I had taken a picture so all of you could see how amazing it looked! Just take my word for it! Charlotte was also a pleasure to talk to and we were chatty the entire time. She was sweet, nice, kind and chatty without being too intrusive, I enjoyed her company for the hour appointment! OVERALL: Good customer service over the phone = 5 stars Greeting at Salon = 5 stars Hair consult, discussion and deliberation = 5 stars Hair wash, head massage = 5 stars (can I give it more?) Hair cut, dry and style = 5 stars (10 stars easily, felt like a star for the next two days!) 25 STARS, but I guess YELP only lets me give it 5! So whats new about Shimmers, well to start with its in easy walking distance from home, its situated on a busy main road, but has off street parking. Its predominately its aimed at women, but they do cater for us guys, who like to just walk in for a quick trim. I have gone here now a few times for a cut because they are local to where I work. Having tried some of the other hairdressers in the area I have given Salon 108 more custom than the others for the main reason that they are more down to earth, less snobby and don't charge a fortune. A wash, cut and blowdry with a senior stylist is £30, which I think is a fair price for today's going rates. The reason, though, that I have only given Salon 108 three stars is that frankly, I'm getting a bit bored with them. Although I've never received a bad cut, per se, I've also never had a cut with them about which I felt particularly excited afterwards. The women who have cut my hair always make sure to be clear with me about what it is we'll be doing to my locks beforehand, but, although the end results have always been satisfactory, they never quite turn out quite as well as I have had in mind. I think I may be looking around next time for somewhere new, as I have never found a stylist at Salon 108 that has really stood out for me as one to stick with, but I will say that if you're in the area and desperate for at least a decent hair cut, they offer a much friendlier atmosphere than some of the other hairdressers in the area.

The business has been through several re-brands over the years so I must say I don't know the current owner but the staff are long serving. Kim, Shirley and Debbie are the ones to go to.
