The food was excellent. I got cheese and onion pie (lunch) and tried the chocolate challenge…read more(which we failed dismally). The chocolate was to die for...totally scrumptious. The service was really good with friendly and knowledgeable staff. I'll be back for sure. The prices were good also. The seating was good and the wait was not long ( although I booked ahead of time).

The best Patissier and Chocolatier in North Manchester…read more Any time I drive into Manchester (which is very often) I have to drive past Slattery's and always manage to make some excuse to pop in. I shouldn't have to make an excuse to go here - It's excellent. The ground floor is their outstanding chocolate and cake shop - definitely worth spending some time here tasting and choosing what they have on offer. Their selection of over 40 celebration cakes on display are stunning - you'll find yourself staring at them like some sort of art. A few of the wedding cakes are pushing £1,000.. asking if it would be worth it? For me, yes! Their cakes are amazing - no wonder Wayne Rooney bought his wedding cake from here and had it shipped to Italy. You'll find me with my face pressed up against the viewing window where you can watch the cake decorators working hard to perfect these masterpieces *drool* I'm certainly not planning my wedding or anything but I already know that there's a massive possibility that my cake will be from here. On the first floor is an elegant restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and of course CAKE. The menu is fab and I haven't heard anybody mention a bad word about it. I have yet to visit the restaurant and I hear that unless you book weeks in advance you've no chance of getting in, but this only makes me want to try it even more and it is certainly on my list. In the past I have bought baskets from here and made my own hampers, mainly for family or friends at Christmas time - consisting of chocolates, hand make cakes, biscuits, marmalades, wines etc (all locally sourced). Safe to say these always go down well. If you have a sweet tooth, this is somewhere you should definitely visit.

I was really impressed with this place, but just for the purposes of this review I should say that…read moreI only popped in for coffee while out for the day in Heaton Park. It's run by the same guys as Eagle and child pub and offers people from disadvantaged backgrounds a chance to work in a coffee shop/deli/restaurant environment and hopefully give them the skills to further their careers in the industry. All of the staff I came across were super friendly and efficient and the whole place had a great vibe about it. I have to say that if we didn't already have plans to go out for lunch that day then I would have been quite happy staying here for lunch as the tea rooms seemed really cool, the menu quite varied and overall quite a nice place to take a load off for a while. The espresso I had definitely packed a punch (double for £2) and my wife enjoyed her Cappuccino (£2.20). It's great to know this place is here just in case we're out for the day at the lovely Heaton Park and looking for a decent drink or food option.

We've been here for tea and coffee a few times but this was the first time we came here to eat. To say it was busy would be an understatement! The queue for the counter was huge, but it just gave us more time to admire the wonderful looking cakes and sandwiches on display. We went for the "gourmet burgers" which were absolutely delicious, coming with fries, salad and homemade coleslaw. They also had a really nice salsa on them too. We had tea to drink which came in nice cups with a Heaton Park logo on them. Unfortunately when we visited there was some construction taking place which meant we couldn't sit outside, and there wasn't really enough seating inside when it was really busy. Just a temporary problem though - I guess the place is a victim of its own success! Also, the service at the counter was quite slow for no obvious reason, but not enough to deter us from coming back!

My boyfriend took me here to enjoy the nature which was really lovely. As a suprise he had booked a table for 4pm. Unfortunately due to covid you cannot be seated inside the building. At the time it was sunny so I was fine to sit outside, peering longingly through the windows at the crystal chandeliers. The menu was basic containing mostly sandwiches, cakes and quiches. We ended up going for the afternoon tea which was £16 per person along with a milkshake. It was going quite nicely until a couple with their kid sat close by , which it was making a racket and spilled tea all over the table...and it started to get really cold... the tea arrived but with no milk.. by the time we got this the tea was stone cold. Oh and my partners coffee was rushed, on top of the plunger of the cafetière lay smooshed coffee beans, so he had a gritty coffee.. The three tiers arrived, I personally think one between us would have been suffice as we couldn't see each other haha and it left little room on the table. The bottom layer contained thin strips of sandwiches with the crusts cut off, an egg, beef & horseradish , smoked salmon & cream cheese, and a ham and cheese one.. oh and a quiche.. it was all really tasty. The 2nd layer had a scone with clotted cream and jam and on the side x2 marshmellows with chocolate sauce. The top layer held a small piece of brownie, a tiramisu and another cake oh and some fruit. Overall it was plesant enough but I found the prices steep for what we actually received . I would probably grab a drink here a very light bite when we can sit indoors again but nothing more. Service was plesant but forgetful, I could hear throughout our time there staff apologising to other customers about certain things..
