Here at the Leberkas-Pepi you feel that it is an institution of Linz you are in, where for some decades now the Linzer - young and old - flock in to have this very special authentic Austrian experience with the Leberkäse.
This place here at the Linz main railway station (Hauptbahnhof) is only a dependence of the main restaurant in the Linzer old town. So even though you can't expect a large establishment here at the railway station mall, you will experience parts of the flair/atmosphere of the main Leberkas-Pepi restaurant in the old town. So what you will get at the main railway station mall is a nice and small, neat and cosy, country-style shop providing for you delicious Leberkäse meals of all kind, this typical Austrian fast food, the Austrian kebab.
You can get hot Leberkäse, mild one, with cheese (Käseleberkäse) or without cheese (the regular Leberkäse), sliced o a plate or put into an Austrian crusty roll (Kaisersemmel), and you can even get a Leberkäse from horse meat (the Hungarian variant), but this you don't get with cheese inside. You can have your Leberkäse with mustard or without, and with all kinds of sauces. In the show case you see what you get, so which Leberkäse you want to choose for your meal.
As for the name, the reason for why I am using Leberkäse and not Leberkas is that all over Austria "Leberkas" is the dialect spelling (pronunciation and writing) of Leberkäse, which is the Hochdeutsch-Term. And by the way, "Pepi" is a variant of Seppi, the pet name of Josef. So it equals with Fast-Food Joe.
The staff is friendly and quick, as this place is a fast food restaurant of Austrian style. So you get served fast at the corner, when it is your turn, as their tend to be short lines, and soon after you can sit in the niches for a while to enjoy your meal, the Leberkäse of your choice.
With Love!
