well in theory this school should be peace, love and rainbows...where everyone sits around and sings KUMBAYA. The reality is much different. First of all, a teacher told me, 90 percent of all students would qualify for some kind of 504 plan, or IEP. But the thing is, you are now in a "private school" situation, so, those legal documents are not an option. If little Johnny has a problem that problem is not going to go away just because you changed schools. And to top it off, very few of the teachers are trained teachers, so they have no background in dealing with special needs of ANY kind. The owner is Diane, she is good cop. Christy is bad cop. You tow the line, or you will suffer her wrath. As for communication, that is the NUMBER ONE problem. Good luck trying to find out if Little Johnny is doing well or not. You are not going to hear a thing, until the damage is done and it is really too late to do anything. As far as organization, yeah it is lacking. Most of the teachers are like grown children, who can barely keep their own stuff together yet alone manage a classroom. Is your child feeling ostracized in public school? well, cliques abound at Leaves, and your child most likely will be on the outside looking in. There are some very outgoing and personable students who seem to pretty much rule the roost. As for safety? The building is problematic. I suggest really REALLY looking around, especially if your children are young, and impulsive. Leaves is great if you approach it as supplemental, and fun. If you approach it as a main means of educating you child, it is doubtful your child will be prepared for a strenuous college. Oh, and the school trips that they will spring on you out of the blue, with some sort of vague notion, it will cost anywhere from 250-800 depending on fund raising, which your not really going to know till it is near trip time. They will love you, till they have your money...and then you will be a pesky problem if you have any sort of complaint. Good luck! read more
