In the summers I get bored if I'm not active or pursuing something worthwhile, be it a feather in…read moremy cap or a notch on my belt, and it is precisely that very while, that I want to have weighted importance when it is not in purposeful use. I also get tired. I got tired of my heart skipping a beat every time my sweet baby daughter would cough, sometimes even more than once (the horror!), while sitting in her high chair at dinner, sending all of my anxieties into overdrive, dropping my own fork from my mouth (Is she choking? OMG!!! What do we do???-Call 911!!!) And it was this new parent anxiety fused with the aforementioned idle summertime boredom, that drove me to sign up for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course at the American Red Cross here in Shreveport. It is a daylong, hands-on course, that taught me to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, back injuries, heat and cold emergencies and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies to help victims of any age - adults (about 12 years and older) and pediatric (infants and children up to 12 years of age). I also learned to properly operate an AED, or automated external defibrillator, should I ever need to do so, or be in proximity of one such device in the case of a medical emergency. At the conclusion of the course, I was awarded a certificate and certification in First Aid/CPR that's effective for two years. I highly recommend this course at your local American Red Cross to any new parent or grandparent, and really anybody who just wants to be an alert and responsible citizen! Overall, this course just gave me peace of mind. I know First Aid. I know CPR. I got this! No more freaking out! Yay! Classes run about $100.

Career Technical College is a place that only puts you into debt; especially by encouraging you to…read moretake out any type of student loans. They don't explain the difference between private and government loans. I was told by the financial advisers at the school, that my Sallie Mae loans could be consolidated, but very soon after completing school Sallie Mae started requesting payments. I was informed by Sallie Mae that private loans are not consolidated by them and that an income-based payment plan was not an option when it comes to private loans. The financial advisers at CTC should have provided me with that information. Also, many of my classmates had a number of issues with CTC when it came to receiving money from their student loans during the course of attending school. CTC would inform them that they have a remaining balance not covered by student loans ( due to the fault of changes at CTC) and that the student would have to pay remaining balance in order to continue to attend and complete course. They along with Sallie Mae are vultures looking to turn you into a corpse by sucking your spirit dry in order to get your money. Though you don't see many other reviews here trust that I am speaking the truth of many. My point is. Career Technical College ONLY WANTS YOUR MONEY! SAVE YOURSELF! I want to help you unlike what CTC did for me. Good luck with your future, don't let it be tainted by the legalized scam of ANY PRIVATE COLLEGE.

Financial aid issues, teacher issues, no supplies for working on clients...my daughter had to go next door and buy supplies with her own money at the Dollar Tree....I pay for supplies with tuition but they cannot supply these. The other girls in the classes have stole my daughter's mannequin heads, shears, etc. Now, it is 2 1/2 months from her finishing classes and they cannot even get the paperwork and a check to the State Board for my daughter to take the test. The longer a student is out of the classroom then more likely for him/her to NOT PASS the test. I would NOT recommend ANYONE to go to the school. It is a waste of your time and money.
