All I can say is: I've been to three classes and I'm ready to join the circus…read more Rachel is incredible. I had no idea what to expect but I've been looking to spice up my workout routine and Voler provides some of the most fun/challenging workouts I've ever had. Rachel creates a welcoming and safe environment to try new things and enjoy some sincere belly laughs. Going to Voler has taught me not only about acroyoga and aerial silks, but also about life. Rachel is an empowering role model for women and men alike. Is it a coincidence that Voler is in a church and it happens to be my new spiritual home?

My best friend and I love checking things off our mutual bucket list including going on a cruise…read moretogether (done!), indulging our inner graffiti artists (legally, of course), and....taking aerial acrobatics classes? Thanks to Groupon, this was definitely the best $20 I've spent in a VERY long time. We signed up for two Saturday introductory classes and had no idea what to expect. NOTE: Voler is located on the fourth floor of The Loft, located in the West Bottoms of downtown KC. For those who have never been there, this building is possibly one of the sketchiest places I've ever seen in my life, but...just take a deep breath, call Voler for the entry code (eek), muster up the courage to make it through the dilapidated, drafty lobby through the rusty doors, and walk all the way to the back of the dark, dusty warehouse to the huge freight elevator that looks like it's out of a haunted house. You know, no big deal. But I promise (I promise!) it's delightful once you get inside, with lights strung from the ceiling and eccentric art (probably from Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School...but that's another story) everywhere! These lessons turned out to be a true testament to how little upper body strength I have, and it definitely gave my core muscles a run for my money. For both lessons, we had a fantastic instructor who made it all look effortless but unfortunately, I can't remember her name... :( We learned how to do foot locks and climb the ribbon, as well as do some beautiful/photo-worth/exhausting poses. In the second lesson, we even learned to do a fall, which is possibly one of the most exhilarating/frightening things I've ever done. Needless to say, I came out of each lesson completely exhausted (but the good kind of exhausted, of course.) If only I still lived in Kansas City...I know I'd be here every week!

My daughter has been support and encouraged but also challenged, and her instructors have really helped her grow her skills. The office staff is also extremely helpful and responsive. We are so thankful we found Kansas City Aerial Arts!

I was able to try out Kansas City Aerial Arts thanks to Towncenter's "New Year, New You" project…read moreand I am so glad that I did! I went in for a drop-in beginner's class and ended up with a couple of girls who were also there for new year, new you and my husband. We were apprehensive about what it would be like and a little scared but excited. Our instructor, Kelsey, started us off with some stretching exercises. Then we moved to the silks where we attempted to climb them and then maneuver a hold. After that we tried our hands at different moves on the trapeze. Let me tell you, it was just as hard as I thought it would be! She recommended letting your hands sit in ice water for 10 minutes as it would help with the swelling (yikes!). If you decide to try it out just remember that you will use muscles you don't normally use, your hands will hurt and feel raw, you will be super sore, and you will feel great about yourself! You tried something new, fun and challenging. And anybody can give it a try, from little kids up to whatever age! They offer sessions, drop-ins, and 8 class flex pass. She even mentioned they have had bachelorette parties come in! How much fun would that be!?

Attended a yoga class at 0830 am on a Snow Sunday Morning today and had a great time and workout!…read moreThe class was a Community Yelp event spearheaded by Kieu, Yelp KC Community Coordinator. I've done yoga before and actually had a membership at a yoga studio in LA in the past, but after not doing it for 2 years, I was a little apprehensive to get back into it. Luckily, the instructor today was very chill and gave a class fitting to beginners and more geared for a relaxing time than an intense strength/endurance test. She was very clear with the instructions and with only 9 attendees there, she was able monitor us and made comments/tips to help us get the best out of the class. She was very personable, nice and had lovely stories to share. It was a very personalized class as opposed to feeling like she made it the same for every class. All the mats, blocks, straps, blankets, and pillow were available to use for class. Perfect for those who don't have all the equipment! Facility was clean and the bathroom was clean. The Yelp KC Community Coordinator, Kieu, provided healthy snacks and drinks after the class. Thanks for making this event possible! It was a donation yoga class, but I like how the instructor didn't hound us on giving a tip or donation. She just made it an option if we could, which was nice. I did end up tipping and luckily she took credit cards!

I am not very flexible or balanced but it didn't matter! We had props to help and make us feel comfortable. Our class was very relaxed, not super full and relaxing. Our instructor chose to do a more beginner level / relaxed class since some of us hadn't done yoga before. As usual, the instructor was in the front of the class but she still made her way around the room. If one of us was doing a position incorrectly or needed a little guidance, she was gentle in handling and helping us. I didn't feel silly if I fell over or had her come help me. They had mats, blocks, straps and blankets available. Which, thank goodness, because I don't own any of these! After the class, our coordinator had snacks and drinks set up for after the class. I'm very glad the class wasn't canceled due to the scary weather and I will for sure be looking into taking up some classes here!
