My 5 and 7 years old two kids has just started to come here a month ago. And they really like here so much!! They used to went to the Chinese church after school. They enjoined from there. But unfortunately they didn't learn anything. And the school closed down. I had only two days to looked for new one. Luckily I found this Nexus learning Academy. I really appreciate Miss PEGGY!!! And all the staff!!! They are always friendly and care the kids with a lot of patients!! The most important part is that my 2 kids love them so much!! If you are a working mom just like me. My son has been attending this after school program for 5 years now. They are open on minimum days and staff development days. Their hours are convenient and transportation is reliable. They have extracurricular classes such as Chinese and Spanish as well as offering art and computer coding classes. Tutoring is also available for an additional fee. The center is small, but I have found the teachers and staff to be genuinely kind and caring towards my son. He has had no complaints about them. The teachers deal with behavioral problems such as bullying quickly and with parental involvement. Students are helped with their school work and are taught additional lessons as well. There have been some memorable kid activities such as cooking, putting on a play, and making a camping scene. They offer spring break, winter break, and summer programs. I think my son's favorites of these are the weeks of legos and computer animation they offer. We have enjoyed our years at Learning Nexus and will be saddened when we out grow their services. read more

My son's 2nd year at Learning Nexus / Creative World.. couldn't be happier. At the end of summer this year he told me he couldn't wait to go back to Learning Nexus and see everyone. Eileen, a formal principal and experience in education in last 20+ year runs "Learning Nexus." She is INCREDITBLE. Education is her passion. I feel the class and curriculum is only good if the teachers are good. She always knows how to talk to the kids and how to give the right discipline while showing lots of love and support. My 10 year old enjoys all the classes there, from Singapore math to Spanish class. All the teachers are nice, patient and good with kids. We couldn't be happier. read more

Unlike other Asian after school centers, LN cares their students more than their grades/ test scores. They care the kids' feelings, attitudes to others and needs for anything. They offer free parenting workshops sometimes when they receive enough requests. My 4th grader has been with LN since his 2nd grade for weekday afternoons and winter/spring/summer camps. Their programs include Language Art ( English), Singapore Math, Speech/Debate, Chinese/Spanish, Writer Lab, Art and Yoga!!! For holiday season, they let kids prepare musical or other shows for patents to watch. We also have pot luck parties to get to know other families. Best of all, they offer Parent's Night out for us to enjoy our time without the kids! They listen to parents' needs too. My son went there for almost three years. It was a good experience for him, great experience for me. He got to have fun while learn in their aftershool program. However, you can get this at some other places. The important part of learning nexus which results in the 'great' experience is that they care about the kids' behavior and development. You don't only get academic help, but also developmental help! As an asain parent of an elementary school student, I'm torn between being a tiger mom or not. After all, it's only elementary school. This is my daughter's second year in this after school. Before my daughter started first grade, I did a lot research on after schools through on-site visits, talking to other parents and on-line reviews and etc., Learning Nexus Academy was and still is my top choice. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxing. Kids look happy. The owner Ms. Eileen and all the other teachers and staff members are extremely friendly and flexible. They do several potluck parties throughout the year. It's really like a big family. Academic development is a key area that I looked at. There are other reputable after schools within my reach, but those usually require the students to do excessive amount of practice work. But in Learning Nexus, they teach a unique math curriculum called Singapore Math. I am not going to talk about details on Singapore Math since I am not an expert and I don't want to provide false information, but I believe it helps build solid foundation for the students so they don't just memorize what to do but really understand why they are solving the problems in certain way. Also I heard parents from other after school saying their kids need to finish assignment from after school at home. Since we usually get home late and my daughter has a lot of other activities, we don't really have time to spend on homework at home. So it is really nice that all the school work that my daughter needs to do is taken care of at the after school. Her teacher checks her work and even helps practicing for the spelling tests. My daughter also takes the Spanish class here. The teacher is very nice and creative in her teaching style. The kids learn the language while they are having fun singing and playing games. An added bonus is that Ms. Eileen gives free workshops on parenting skills which I personally found very helpful. That really demonstrates how much she cares about her students. She offered to place my daughter in the advanced class this year because she believes that "kids need to be challenged". Overall I am very happy with the services Learning Nexus Academy provides so far. And I highly recommend this place to parents who are looking for a safe, friendly, academically nurturing and challenging after school for their kids. read more

Update: I am sure there are students and parents happy with the center, but that does not change my own personal negative experience. As an educator maybe she shouldn't minimize and discard my experience but work to make sure not another child is ever made to feel the way i did. Ironic that the program teaches compassion, but I have yet to see that coming from her, unless you are a fan. read more

My daughter started K this year and we chose learning nexus as her after school care. The environment is clean and very organized. They offer homework assistance, language art, Singapore math, and students can choose between Chinese and Spanish for the second language class. On Fridays they usually offer art, craft or cooking activities. The student/teacher ratio is really good. The thing I like the most is that not only they care about classroom learning/teaching like other after school programs in this area, but also pay lots of attention to teach kids good manners. read more

This afterschool treats my child like trash. They make you pay money for material every month. But yet my child doesn't use any material. When they come home they look so gloomy and sad. The teachers don't respect the child's opinion. Plus, the cleanliness is really bad. The floors, walls, table, chairs, and bathrooms are always dirty. They make us pay a lot of money for such a short program. Along with that, my child always comes home begging me to take them out, but always say no since I try to shine some hope on it. They feed my child food from the dollar store. Some teachers have even left since they don't want to be teaching at a place where the students are being "tortured." The amount of money I used to pay at the other afterschool is the same as here but they used to give snacks and had way more extracurricular activities. Plus there is only one language class (chineses) and the same teacher is the kindergarten teacher. I am no saying that is bad but the thign is that the teacher's grammer isn't the best and when children are littlle is when they absorb the most things. So the kids are learning bad grammer and when they speak they will have the bad habit of having bad grammer. read more

My daughter have been going to Learning Nexus for a year now and she loves the teachers there. The teachers truly care about their students and makes sure they learn at their individual pace. Teachers will give you their numbers so if you have a project or homework you would like them to help your child with then you can give them a call or text them. My daughter learned so much from Mrs. Lulu and even had her students write a little story book about themselves and gave it to me for Mother's Day and she was only 5 years old! I was amazed! Ms. Peggy and Ms. Samantha are amazing and will work with you when there are days when you get last minutes calls from work and not being able to pick them up on time. During the day, Ms. Debbie the driver is like my daughters 2nd mom because my daughter looks forward everyday for Ms. Debbie to pick her up and other students at the school. My daughter loves to talk about her day at learning nexus so I would definitely recommend them to come here. read more
