When I complained to the staff about it and even the higher up's, they did not seem to care or offer any sort of explanation or guidance. We will never go back here again. I would be cautious about sending your child. We have had plenty of friends still send their kids after our experience and it was ok, but I wouldn't want to take the chance!

The sports segment provided the kids with junk food like rice crispy treats and chips - free of cost, and unbeknownst to parents. This program is a glamorized babysitting facility with middle schoolers as camp counselors and mediocre staff in the classrooms. My son expressed that two different adult "teachers" were unkind toward him, and that is something a child should NEVER experience, let alone the hands-off afterschool babysitting club style environment that they have established.

I am a "Professional Hacker" by job title, so when I saw that there was a robotics school that my…read morekid could go to less than ten miles away from our home in Woodland Hills I jumped at the opportunity. I showed my son a few videos from the buildcoolrobots.com page and his eyes lit up. I thought to myself "We may have a winner". After his first class/demo my kid was hooked. As a "Geek Father" I must admit I had a tear (of joy) in my eye as well as he told me "Daddy I love it". Speaking with Stan (the man) to get a feel for his "savvy" I was extremely pleased at his skill level and more importantly how he related with the kids in the classes. The kids love Stan! I could barely get uninterrupted time to speak with him. The kids were relentless with their enthusiasm for either completing a "Mission" or asking for a little help with their robots "code". This impressed me even more. My son began his journey the beginning of Summer 2013, attending classes eight times a month. In that short amount of time he has gone from an interest in computers to developing code and furthermore being excited about it. My sons enthusiasm spans even further from the classroom as (per Stans guidance for me and my kid begging me) I have purchased everything he needs to develop at home. With that being said, I have gone to my sons room on a few Saturday mornings to find my son NOT playing Xbox but instead programming on his laptop telling me "Daddy I almost completed this mission, look at this"! If you are looking for somewhere your kid can learn skills that will benefit them for the rest of their lives, I highly recommend that you enroll them at Great Minds Robotics. Neither you or your kid will be disappointed.

I've had experiences with this tutoring center since its inception nearly eight years ago, and…read morecompletely believe in its program. For those of you looking for a place that will help your kids out with school, this is one of the best and most unique places out there. Unlike Kumon and Sylvan, Homework Bound focuses on the homework the children bring home rather than bombarding them with additional work and exercises. The teachers help the students understand their homework first and reach the root of the problem that way. Thus, those who need some extra focus can get that and those who need additional guidance can receive that as well. The program focuses on organization and time-keeping skills that will help the children with their homework and can also be applied elsewhere even after they leave the center. The teachers are great, caring, funny, and also focusead. They are chosen very carefully and put a lot of heart into what they are doing. Mr. Vesagas, the director, is also a very caring man who devotes so much of his time to his program and the children. He is extremely passionate about helping each child individually and always makes sure that they stay on track in terms of finishing their work. I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for some extra tutoring for your child. While this isn't a "day-care," it is a great alternative to it. Bring your child home in the evening with their homework finished and enjoy some very much needed family time. :)

We have been a part of the West Hills Kumon community for over a year, and I am happy to share with…read moreyou that my children are enjoying their experience. Now, going on their second year, they have said to us that, "Doing Kumon makes school work go much faster and makes it easier! We like that feeling." We are grateful for the attention our kids are receiving while at the center. A big THANK YOU to our teaching assistants for answering our children's questions in a positive manner, and we appreciate you, Miss Vickie, for your commitment to our children's wellbeing by being sensitive in noticing and flexible in adjusting workloads according to their individual needs. The kids love achieving their certificates as they complete each level and the awards/rewards they have received throughout the year help motivate them and cultivate their faith in themself. Through this program, we have observed notable growth in our children, both academically and personally. We believe that with the support from the community of educators at Kumon West Hills, and through consistent practice, our children are learning skills that help them understand the value of self-responsibility, self-accountability and self-commitment. "It takes a village..." And we are thankful that Kumon is a part of our circle in guiding our children through the development of a strong work ethic. Thank you for taking your time to read about our experiences.

The great thing about this method is that, although the staff helps out, they do encourage the student to take initiative to learn new material themselves. My 8th grade daughter has been going to this center since 2015, and her math grades are awesome -- all A's all the time. She's ahead of her class, and her last state test placed her in the 98th percentile. What's more, our daughter has learned to rely on her own capabilities and resources to find the answer herself. It's a very supportive environment. There are recognition programs and a way to earn points which can be redeemed for various items. Sometimes it's a bit of pain for my daughter to keep up with the worksheets, but it becomes easier once she gets into a groove. The worksheet approach is important because it asks the student to read the question and to figure out a solution. It doesn't just focus on memorization. The billing is far from draconian. I've never had any billing issues there. On occasion I have had to pay the extra $10 for paying late, but I knew that was the policy going into it. Thanks Ms. Vickie and staff!

It only added to my stress and anxiety that revolved around school and writing. We all knew something was very wrong but I never fit into any of the more commonly known learning disabilities. I started seeing a new therapist and psychiatrist who worked closely together. They suggested that perhaps I may have something called Written Expressive Disorder. This happened to be the break through that was needed. My grandmother delved into research about the disorder and came across something called an Educational Therapist. From there we discovered the amazing Dr. Shannon Kroner. I met with Dr. Kroner and immediately started working with her. We worked together for a year. By the end of that year I went from barely being able to write a single paragraph to writing a college level three page paper with confidence! I signed up for a religious studies class at Pasadena City College and finally experienced educational success on my own. Without the help of Dr. Kroner I never would have gained the confidence in my ability to write anything longer than three sentences or reach academic achievement independently.
